In KCD 2, you can use historical firearms. It's a great addition to Henry's arsenal and comes in handy during fights with a specific type of enemies. On this page of the guide, you will learn at what point in the story you can receive your first gun.
How to get a handgonne?
You will receive your first handgonne, a medieval firearm, during the main quest The Finger of God. During this quest, you will go through a tutorial on weapon handling, which will explain the basic mechanics associated with using this new type of weapon.
The newly acquired gun will come in handy in the later part of the quest, where you will participate in the siege of Nebakov.
A few quests later, during the quest Speak of the Devil, you will again come into possession of a handgonne, which you will use during an ambush on a prison convoy.
Where to repair firearms and buy ammunition?
If you are interested in expanding your gun arsenal, head to the craftsman residing in the southeast part of Kuttenberg.
Master Prokop handles gun repairs as well as sells all kinds of firearm accessories. At the gunsmith's, you will repair your handgonne, purchase ammunition for it as well as gunpowder. Moreover, you can also buy other types of firearms here, such as a pistole or an arquebus.
At Master Prokop's, you can also buy alchemical recipes for gunpowder and a set of tools for weapon repair.
What can I use a firearm for?
At the time of KCD 2 story (the beginning of the 15th century), firearms were just beginning to be developed. Despite that, they were still an incredibly dangerous tool on the battlefield. The guns present in the game deal massive damage, even to armored opponents. However, their weak points are poor accuracy and a long reload time. For this reason, handgonnes are not recommended as the protagonist's only weapon.
However, they can perfectly complement Henry's arsenal. During combat, you can try to weaken an enemy with an accurate shot and then switch to a sword, with which you will engage in direct combat. It's worth juggling between different types of weapons as fits the situation so that you use specific weapons in situations that match their strongest features.
