Dancing with the Devil is the final quest of the second act of Kingdom Come 2. This is the last main quest before the point of no return and the game's finale. On this guide page, we described whether to burn the village, how to open the gates of Maleshov, capture the fortress, and apprehend Otto von Burgow.
Before starting the task, be sure to equip both your preferred melee weapon and a bow or crossbow.

- How to open the Maleshov's gates?
- How to conquer the fortress in Maleshov?
- How to catch Otto von Burgow?
Should Maleshov be burned down?
The quest starts with a conversation with Zizka. The time has come to conquer the fortress in Maleshov and capture Otto von Burgow. Under the cover of night, you will set out with Dry Devil to carry out a diversion before attacking the fortress. Dry Devil will order to set Maleshov on fire and massacre all civilians. You will have to make a choice:
- Burn the village - Dry Devil's people will destroy Maleshov and massacre the villagers. For the rest of the mission, you will face a smaller number of enemies.
- Challenge the Devil to a duel - if you win, the Devil will cancel his order. Maleshov will survive, but you will have to face a greater number of enemies.
After making the decision, follow Samuel carrying the ladder and climb the walls of the fortress.
How to open the Maleshov's gates?
The quest has a problematic bug - one of the guards can suddenly become aware of your presence and run towards you. In such a situation, let him run onto the walls and kill him there - there is a high chance that this will not trigger the alarm.
After entering the walls, wait about half a minute - two guards are crossing the courtyard, switching places. One is going to the tent and the other to the wooden hut just to the left of the stairs - wait until both have passed. Next, go down the stairs to the courtyard, sneak into the hut through the open doors, and quietly kill the guard standing inside. Climb up to the attic using the ladder, sneak past the sleeping soldiers and exit through the window - you will land on the front wall, just above the main gate.
Go past the gate until you reach the stairs leading to the courtyard. Several guards standing in front of the gate will leave, and only one will remain, turned with his back toward you. Throw a stone to distract him and make him move a bit further, then sneak up behind him and open the main gate.
How to conquer the fortress in Maleshov?
As soon as you open the gate, the battle will begin. Fight against enemies alongside your allies - the most important heroes are immortal in this quest. After defeating the enemies in the outer courtyard, hide behind cover and start shooting at the soldiers on the walls. You need to buy time for your allies to push the cart.
After pushing the cart, watch the cut-scene. A precise shot from the cannon knocked down the inner wall - you can enter the inner courtyard. Get rid of von Burgow's remaining soldiers. After the fight, go up to the tower with Capon and Zizka - you will start negotiations with Otto von Burgow.
How to catch Otto von Burgow?
Von Burgow has holed up at the top of the tower and is holding Rosa Ruthard as a hostage. Depending on your approach, negotiations can end in three ways:
- Convincing von Burgow to surrender - you have to convince von Burgow to give himself up (Speech - Difficult, Scholarship - Very Difficult, Dread - Very Difficult). Von Burgow will surrender voluntarily, and you will get Rosa's sympathy.
- Attack the tower - the option becomes available only if all negotiation attempts fail. Henry may decide to personally attack the tower and capture von Burgow by force. You will have to climb to the top of the tower, defeating the remaining guards along the way. Finally, when you reach the top, von Burgow will surrender, and you will win the sympathy of Rosa.
- Set the tower on fire - you can decide to set the tower on fire. As soon as von Burgow realizes what's happening, he will immediately surrender. Rosa will be furious about this and will hate Henry for risking her life, which will mean the immediate end of a potential romance.
After capturing von Burgow, the quest will end.
