KCD2: How to find the Axe from the Lake?
The Axe from the Lake is an interesting side quest in KCD2, in which you will set out to find a legendary weapon. On this page of the guide we will tell you how to find the tomb of a woodcutter and how to forge a damaged axe.
During the side mission The Axe from the Lake, Henry sets out in search of a weapon from an old tale. On this page, you will learn where you can hear the legend of the two brothers, how to locate the grave of one of the brothers, and how to reforge the axe.
How to start The Axe from the Lake quest?
To start The Axe from the Lake quest, go to the village of Tachov, and then visit the local tavern. During the day, Zdenyek the Mouth hangs out there - a local hired hand and a fan of stories. Talk to him.
If you want to hear a story, you will need to give him spiritus. You can give him 25 groschen for a drink, give him your alcohol, or try to convince him to tell you a story for free. When he asks what legend you want to hear, you can answer anything - Zdenyek will still tell the same story.
From the legend of the two brothers and the water goblin, you will learn that a legendary silver axe is buried in the region. After talking with Zdenyek, the quest will be updated.
Where to look for the silver axe?
The quest marker will point the area where the legendary axe may be located. Here are some tips on how to find it.
Before setting off, be sure to get a spade! You will need it to dig up the grave. You can find more about this tool on the page How to get a shovel?.
- Head to the Zhelejov Wagoners' Inn, and then cross the wooden bridge nearby. Turn onto the path on the left just after the bridge. It will lead you to a large floodplain.
- Travel along the path in such a way that you have the lake on your right side.
- The path will lead you to the top of the hill. The grave is located to the right of the path, near a tree with exposed roots. You can also recognize the right place by the fact that it is located slightly north of the nest icon on the map.
Dig up the grave using a spade. Inside you will find a bag, and in it:
- Broken round shield;
- Broken axe.
- Gemstone silver ring;
- Marigold.
You have managed to find the legendary axe. Now it needs to be reforged.
How to repair the axe?
Return to Tachov. There is a forge, where you will reforge the axe from the story.
To repair it, it will be necessary to use fastening material. You can buy the appropriate materials from the blacksmith Radovan.
Start the blacksmith mini-game at the anvil. To reforge the axe you must:
- Heat the metal in the furnace using the bellows (press Q). A properly heated metal should have an orange-white hue.
- Go to the anvil and start forging the weapon. Listen carefully to the metallic buzzing as you strike. If the sound is dull and muffled, move the blade and strike in a different place. Remember to regularly change the position of the metal and turn it over to the other side from time to time.
- When the metal cools down, repeat the process. Listen to Henry's comments - if something is wrong, the protagonist will point it out.
- When the weapon is ready, the game will inform you with an appropriate message. After hardening, the axe will be ready.
The Adorned axe has been reforged. From now on, it belongs to you and you can use it like any other weapon.
To complete the quest, return to Zdenyek the Mouth and tell him everything. After a short conversation, The Axe from the Lake quest will end.
