How to activate the Demons of Trosky quest?
To activate the Demons of Trosky quest, you must first complete the For Whom the Bell Tolls quest from the main storyline. Once you have unrestricted access to the castle, collect your equipment and then find the Chamberlain. He should be feeling better by now, after you brewed a remedy for him earlier.
The Chamberlain will instruct you during the conversation to speak with two cooks and a blacksmith, who should know more about the suspected demonic activity. The man will also ask you whether you prefer to use holy or magical water. The choice here doesn't matter, so you can choose whatever you want.
While completing this quest, you can move freely around the castle. This allows you to safely enter most rooms without raising suspicion.
Cook Bertha's quest
Firstly, head towards the southern wing of the castle. On the lowest floor of one of the towers, you will find the cook Bertha. The old woman will reveal to you that demons most likely sneak into the castle through the fireplaces in the Maiden Tower (the central part of the castle complex). You don't have to worry about Bertha's exact instructions as to the location. Henry will sprinkle the right place once you get to the general location.
The quest can be completed at night (as recommended by the cook), but from our experience, it doesn't affect anything.
Go to the Maiden Tower. You will have to locate five fireplaces there:
- The first fireplace is located in the kitchen, where you previously met the Chamberlain suffering from stomach pain. This is the lowest floor of the tower. To treat the place with holy water, approach the fireplace and press the interaction button.
- The next fireplace is a few floors up. Go up the stairs and turn left in the pantry. Go up two floors on the wooden stairs until you reach a corridor with white walls. Enter the room straight ahead from the stairs. You will find another fireplace there.
- The third fireplace is located in the adjacent room. Go through the door on the right wall.
- To get to the fourth fireplace, go back to the corridor and go down one floor. In the red corridor, go through the wooden doors.
- Finally, go out through the large, green gate to the balcony. Turn right and go through the next green door. In the room, you will find the last fireplace.
After pouring water over all the fireplaces, this part of the quest will be completed.
Cook Manyeta's quest
Next, go to the same kitchen where you dealt with the first fireplaces. During the day, you will meet a young cook named Manyeta there. After a short conversation, the woman will give you similar instructions to the ones you got from Bertha. This time, however, you will be looking for fireplaces in the southern tower of the castle: Crone.
- The first fireplace is located in the same kitchen where you talked to Bertha.
- The second fireplace is one floor up - it's the door right next to the stairs, on the left side.
- Go back to the stairwell and go up two floors. Go up the stairs carved into the boulder and turn into the first door on the left. In the room with green walls, the third fireplace is waiting for you.
- Go up the stairs even higher. Turn onto the wooden stairs on the left side before the office with the alchemical table. In the Chamberlain's quarters, you will find the fourth fireplace.
- Go up the stairs to the top floor. In one of the bedrooms you will find the last fireplace.
Blacksmith Osina's quest
The last part of your quest against demons will be assigned to you by Osina. Find the blacksmith and talk to him. During the day, he usually works in his forge.
He will direct you to the place where he observed demonic activity and strange smells.
Following his directions, you will reach a lavatory in the castle's vestibule (next to the battle arena).
Go back to the blacksmith, who will start to act surprised:
- You can play along and ask for more hints.
- Alternatively, you can point out that the blacksmith's joking and end the search here.
If you decide to continue:
- The first "demonic" lavatory can be found in the Maiden Tower, in the corridor with white walls.
- The second lavatory can be found in the Crone Tower, in a room with stairs carved into a rock.
Once you have visited all the lavatories, return to the blacksmith. Amused Osina will start laughing at you. You can let him off the hook or wager him to a fistfight.
There are no consequences for participating in the fight and the blacksmith himself will not be a very difficult opponent. However, you will not gain any benefits from the duel either (apart from satisfaction). After handling the blacksmith, you can return to the Chamberlain.
The Chamberlain will thank you for your help and give you some money (55 groschen) and two Golden Chalices. The quest will come to an end here.
