Investigate the surrounding area with Spectral Vision
This quest will begin as soon as you enter the subway tunnels, which count as a separate area. While underground, you can simply focus on the main quest objectives, but you can also search for secrets, ghosts and loot. You can return to the tunnels later in the game, so you don't need to fully explore them at this point.
Soon after you start investigating the tunnels, you will come across the first glowing orb. As you already know, you can activate Spectral Vision near such objects to follow the silhouette of the character that will guide you towards your main destination.
Head deeper underground
You can expect to encounter some Visitors while traversing the subway station, but it'll be over in a cinch if you attack them from stealth and get the surprise on them.
Head north on the underground map and you will eventually reach the main subway tunnel from the above screenshot. From here, head northwest.
Later in the journey, you will head outside the known map of tunnels, but this won't stop you from progressing further. This time, head north, passing through a large, round room on your way (you will return here later on and then examine the upper balconies).
Your destination is the torii gate from the screenshot. When you approach it, a cut-scene will play. You will have to face the boss known as the Yaseotoko.
Defeat Yaseotoko - boss fight
Yaseotoko is the game's first full-fledged boss. The battle against this opponent takes place in a separate arena. Try to memorize it well, especially the locations of ether so you can destroy it whenever you need more energy.
Before the battle, we recommend that you fully heal your character and replenish the energy needed to activate your powers (if necessary, before approaching the tori gate, destroy the nearby objects and use healing items).
The boss, like the main character, uses 3 different elements:
Wind attacks are quick and, as a result, difficult to fully avoid. Your best option is to block at the right moment to take as little damage as possible.
Fire attacks require charging, which means that you can spot Yaseotoko readying them well in advance, allowing you to prepare to sprint and avoid getting hit. Alternatively, you can try to stun the boss or counter with your own charged attack, but this tactic is risky as you may not make it in time.
As with Akito's own powers, the boss's water attacks have a limited range. When you notice that the boss is preparing to use these attacks, it's best to quickly move away. As a last resort, be ready to block to mitigate the damage you take.
The creature has a unique attack which consists of creating shock waves. They spread across the entire arena and if you want to avoid taking too much damage, you have to perfectly time your jump.
You can use any of your powers to attack the boss. We suggest starting with fire weaving and launching powerful, charged projectiles towards Yaseotoko. Wind weaving can also be very effective.
Water weaving is risky as it forces you to get near to your opponent, which places you in a vulnerable position. When Yaseotoko approaches you, consider quickly switching to water weaving and attacking before it can do the same.
If you have stun talismans, they can be very helpful in immobilizing and weakening the creature.
During the battle, don't forget to heal yourself as soon as Akito's health bar turns yellow. This is to lower your chances of dying.
Your goal is to damage Yaseotoko enough to reveal the boss's core. Quickly hold down the core grab button. Removing it will win you the battle.
Get back to the surface
As you may have noticed, the characters have been temporarily disconnected. This means that you can't use Akito's powers. The following will still be available:
- bow - make sure you don't run out of arrows, as they are one-use items,
- quick purges, i.e. executions carried out from behind a Visitor's back.
As for your tactics, you have two options:
- Stealth - This should be your main game plan. Unfortunately, you can't use spectral vision, so you have to depend on the traditional way of spotting your opponents and reacting to their alert icons.
- Running away from opponents - you should only use this option when the main character has been detected.
New Visitors have appeared in the room that you have passed through earlier. However, you don't have to worry about them, because near the starting point, you will find the ladder from the screenshot. Use it to reach the upper balconies easier.
You will find arrows on the balconies and you should keep an eye out for them later along the way. Akito can only carry a limited number of arrows, so try not to miss when using the bow.
Use the balconies to reach the central round hall. You will need to use the spiral stairs to reach the higher levels. Locate the partially open hatch and head inside.
In the next room, you'll find it difficult to avoid the Visitors, so instead attack them from stealth with your bow.
Continue your escape. You should be able to sneak past opponents from this point on and perform quick purges to eliminate them without wasting any arrows.
One of the Visitors was standing near the hatch you need to open. You will gain access to a ladder leading to the surface. By leaving the underground, you will have also completed the quest.
