Yellow Ether Crystals

The first way to get meika (the main in-game currency) is to find and break yellow ether crystals. You can come across them while exploring the game world. Large levitating yellow objects, such as the example shown in the picture, are more valuable. They will give you several thousand meika instead of several hundred.

Prosperity Beads - you will get more meika from ether crystals

We suggest waiting with a more thorough exploration of the map to find meika until chapter 4. During it, you will be able to cleanse the Chishima shrine from the picture above.

After taking over the shrine, explore its altar to find Prosperity Beads. After you set it as active in the inventory, you can get 2x more meika - this only applies to yellow ether crystals, i.e. getting meika as loot. However, this is very helpful, because you will be able to get more than 7,000 meika by breaking large yellow crystals.

Absorbing and sending back spirits

Another way to get meika is to use katashiro to absorb and send back spirits from the phone booths. Meika is one of the rewards for freeing spirits in booths (you'll also get XP). Remember - you get 50% of the number of spirits transfered. In the example in the picture, transferring 5,445 spirits will give you 2,722 gold.

Completing quests

A fairly obvious way to obtain meika is to complete quests. Meika can be one of the rewards for completing a given mission - you can check this information in the journal. You should get Meika from most of the side quests.

Delivering wanted items to necomatas

The last way is to fulfill necomatas' (cat traders) orders for artifacts. You will encounter several such traders and each of them is interested in specific collectibles/secrets. Deliver artifacts to receive large amounts of meika (and other valuable rewards).

Meika - best way to spend it?

You should spend meika on unique items. Those include:

1. Paper katashiro dolls - you will be able to gather more spirits before having to visit one of the phone booths.
2. Collectibles - mainly magatamas and KK files, which can only be purchased.
3. Clothes - they can be full costumes or individual items. Getting all the costumes is required by one of the trophies.

Consumable items are less important. We do not recommend buying food and drink from merchants - you can find them in large quantities while exploring the game world. The exceptions are:

1. Arrows - they can also be found in the game world, but they are quite rare. Consider purchasing a few arrows when you are running out of them.
2. Talismans - you will be able to use them more often and have an easier time unlocking the achievements associated with them.
3. Dog food - you can give it to dogs found in the game world. After that, they will lead you to a treasure. You will get more meika than you spent on buying food.
