Unlocking the quest
The mission can be started near the Kuo Shrine, which you will visit after cleansing the Yashin Shrine. This can happen while completing Chapter 2. A quest marker should automatically appear on the map.
The quest-giver is the Boy Who Can't Move, who is levitating over the water in the fountain.
Place the cucumber
Jump into the water (there's no risk of drowning or taking damage) and reach the location where you need to place cucumber. As a result, the kappa will appear.
Hide behind the statue
Hide from the kappa behind the central statue to avoid scaring it away. Spectral vision will help you track the kappa's movements and position yourself opposite the route taken by the yokai to remain hidden behind the statue.
Absorb the kappa
Wait for the quest objective to update and then sneak up on the kappa from behind. Hold down the button to absorb the yokai and get the magatama.
Now talk to the quest-giver again to complete the mission.
As you progress through the game, more kappa and other yokai markers will appear on the map. You can reach them in order to absorb them and obtain more magatama.
