Taking damage and Akito's death - basic information
The main character's health bar is located in the lower right corner of the screen, and it changes color depending on its current state. You should react when it turns from green to yellow. When it turns red and similarly-colored effects appear on the screen, it's a warning that Akito is close to death.
The main character's death doesn't carry any serious consequences, as you won't end up losing any XP, spirits or meika that you've gathered. Of course, you will be moved back to the last checkpoint and, as a result, you may be forced to repeat the sections in between, such as entire battles.
Using healing items
There's no automatic health regeneration in Ghostwire Tokyo. If you lose some HP, you'll have to find a way to restore the missing health on your own.
You can opt to heal manually by using one of 3 types of items, and you can switch between them with a single button (Triangle on PS5). These are:
- Food
- Drinks
- Spectral food - it's not as common as "regular" food and, in addition to healing Akito, it can also grant him temporary buffs, such as increasing his resistance to attacks or making it easier to perform perfect blocks. Select these based on the current situation and, for example, for a mission that will involve a lot of fighting, pick one that will improve Akito's defense.
Healing items can be obtained in two main ways:
- Found in the game world as loot - Some items are in plain sight, but also make sure to search various containers and cabinets.
- Bought from traders and vending machines - Only resort to this method on higher difficulty levels should you run out of supplies. You should be able to regularly replenish your food supplies simply by exploring the game world.
It may also be a good idea to increase the main character's inventory capacity to be able to carry more healing items of the same type at the same time. This topic is described in more detail on the Inventory capacity - how to increase? page.
In addition to healing items, there is another way to heal - you can restore some health by grabbing cores. This method can be improved by purchasing the Wakumusubi ability, which increases the amount of HP recovered by grabbing cores. This technique is a nice supplement to using food and drink.
Permanently extending the health bar
As you progress through the game, you will have the option to permanently extend your health bar, allowing Akito to take more damage before his life is in danger. You can lengthen the health bar by increasing the synergy level , i.e. by leveling up. The game will always notify you in percentage about your health bar extending.
