The fifth chapter of Dead Space is called Lethal Devotion. Our walkthrough tells you where to find the transmission source and how to turn it off, how to escape Mercer's Hunter and how to stop the indestructible monster, how to lift the lockdown, how to get rid of the poison gas and where to find liquid nitrogen.

Locate the Source of the Broadcast
After the chapter starts, listen to Nicole's message and return to the train station. Select the Medical Deck from the list of locations.
The new destination is the Chemical Lab - use the locator to determine the correct route. Destroy the growth along the way. You will also encounter the first monster with tentacles stuck to the wall. Attack it from a distance, because getting close to it means instant death. Also, eliminate single tentacles that can shoot projectiles.
Use the small elevator. Aim at the orange fragments of the growth to unlock further passages (remember to use flashlight in dark rooms).
Reach the next elevator and the Chemical Lab. A hologram recording will play. Interact with the transmission disable terminal. A cut-scene will start - Isaac won't be able to move for a while.
Escape the creature
The Hunter will appear in the room - an elite type of Necromorph. After attacking the beast, you will quickly learn that the Hunter is indestructible - the monster is able to regenerate lost limbs. Don't waste any more ammo on it because you can't defeat this Necromorph the conventional way.
Use stasis to slow the Hunter down. After unlocking the exit from the lab, you must return to the Security Station. Use the locator if necessary and avoid unnecessary fights along the way - stop monsters with stasis or run past them.
Lift the Lockdown
The new destination is the office of Dr. C. Mercer - 2SO - it is located south-east of the central location.
You have to go through the Emergency Room again. Get rid of regular Necromorphs, and if you encounter the Hunter, slow it down with stasis and destroy its lower limbs. In the main hall, you need to find a power cell and move it to the red slot.
Be sure to check out the Emergency Equipment Storage along the way - you have a Security Clearance 2 so you can open it.
There is a new weapon in the storage - Line Gun. It is good for severing limbs and can also create traps.
In the ER Hallway, watch out for the monster with tentacles on the wall - attack it from a distance.
In Dr. Mercer's office, use the lockdown console.
Stop the Poison Gas
You can't take care of the main objective of the mission right away, because poison gas will be sprayed when you leave Mercer's office. You have to get rid of it before Isaac's suit runs out of oxygen (there's an oxygen refill station in ER Hallway).
You need to return to the Security Station - use the locator to find the correct path. Don't fight the Necromorphs along the way, just use stasis or quickly avoid them. Once you reach the station, use the life support console to remove the gas.
Acquire the Liquid Nitrogen
The new destination is the Cryogenics room to the west of the central location. You have to go through the Imaging Diagnostics again - you will come across new Necromorphs.
Try to take Liquid Nitrogen. Doctor Mercer will appear again.
After Mercer's speech ends, you will be attacked by the Hunter again.
You have to stop the Hunter by being cunning. Stand in the central chamber that had liquid nitrogen in it. Wait for the Hunter to spawn and use stasis on the monster. If you want to increase your chances of success, you can cut off the Hunter's lower limbs first and then use stasis.
Quickly run to the Cryogenics Control Room where Dr. Mercer was. You'll need to use cryo freeze console to freeze the Hunter - this will only work if the slowed monster hasn't left the central chamber. Doing this will end the confrontation with the Hunter.
After dealing with the Hunter, get rid of the regular Necromorphs that may have appeared in the area. You will complete the stage and advance to chapter 6.
