The ninth chapter of Dead Space Remake is called Dead on Arrival. From the walkthrough, you will learn how to get rid of the nuclear warhead without detonating it, how to reach the engine room and get the singularity core, and how to safely escape from USM Valor and return to Ishimura.
- Salvage the Singularity Core
- Dispose of the Warhead
- Salvage the Singularity Core - continuation
- Escape the USM Valor
Salvage the Singularity Core
The chapter will begin right after you reach the USM Valor, which collided with Ishimura.
You can save your game in the first room. Choose the passage to the Barracks. After leaving it, you will encounter new fast-moving opponents - mutated soldiers-members of the Valor crew. You can stop them not only by using your stasis, but also by aiming at their chest stasis tanks. The Ripper can also easily stop fast-moving enemies in place so that they can start taking damage.
Dispose of the Warhead
In the Briefing Room, defeat more monsters and take the power cell - you need to deliver it to the slot by the northern elevator. Take it to the new level of the ship.
Save the game in the new location, because the next part can be a challenge.
Destroy the console by the door to get to the Torpedo Bay. You can't let anything explode in this location, because the nuclear warhead would detonate and the hero would die.
A Necromorph with an explosive gland will appear next to the warhead. You can't hit the monster's explosive body part or let it get close to you and explode. Aim precisely at the monster's limbs - it must die and leave the intact gland.
You can now solve the puzzle of disposing the warhead. Explore the area to the right of the warhead. Ignore the second monster with the explosive gland and grab the power cell with kinesis. Move it to the left slot.
The next step is to destroy 6 fuses around the warhead. You can attack them with melee or shoot them.
After completing all the above steps, examine the warhead terminal to release it safely.
Salvage the Singularity Core - continuation
Leave the room and go west through the Armory, where there are more monsters.
The Shooting Range room is adjacent to the Armory. You can activate the shooting range and have an optional battle with the Necromorphs - surviving it is rewarded with the Front Toward Enemy trophy. We discussed this in more detail in the trophy guide.
The main path leads to the Infirmary. There is a laser trap in the central part of the room - contact with laser beams means immediate death. Use the stasis refill station and use stasis on the lasers. This will allow you to safely cross to the other side. Kill the new Necromorphs and make sure not to retreat towards the lasers during the fight.
Reach the Cargo Bay. In this location, you have to watch out for discharges and fight the Necromorphs. A new Brute will appear in the hall - avoid his charges, slow him down with stasis (there are stasis tanks nearby that can be thrown with kinesis) and use your best weapons to hit the weak spots on his back.
After the battle, take the node from the Brute's corpse and make your way through the corridors to the Engine Room. Save the game, because it's easy to die in this location.
You must watch out for flames - contact with them is deadly. Run when the flames are gone. Turn right twice. The new corridor is more difficult - you have to move the crate with kinesis and block flames. After you pass a given section, stop in front of the next flame, move the crate to block it and carefully walk a few steps.
After avoiding all the flames, you'll reach the circuit breaker. Examine it to:
- turn on the Fire Suppression System - you will get rid of the flames except for the central wall of fire;
- turn on the elevators.
Be careful, because Necromorphs may attack you. Return to the entrance to the Engine Room - the small elevator here is now active.
Head west and watch the cut-scene with Hammond and Chen. You can take the Singularity Core.
Escape the USM Valor
The new mission objective has no time limit - you don't have to hurry to escape. The escape route is predetermined, because there will be explosions near the corridors and passages you pass.
While escaping, you must go through the Mess Hall - expect to encounter Necromorphs there. At the passage to the Barracks, you can destroy the console and unlock the passage (picture above).
You have to reach the Airlock, thanks to which you will get out into the void. You don't have to do anything here. You'll be back in the room where you solved the satellite puzzle in chapter 8. You advance to chapter 10.
