Last update: 30 January 2023
The third chapter in Dead Space Remake is called Course Correction. Our walkthrough suggests, e.g. where the Ripper and Flamethrower are, how to get to the Engineering Deck, how to refuel the engines, how to activate the centrifuge, how to get out of the centrifuge room, how to manually start the engines in the engine room, and how to return to the tram station.
- Reach the Engineering Deck
- Activate the Control Console
- Refuel the Engines: South
- Refuel the Engines: North
- Activate the Centrifuge
- Manually Ignite the Engines
- Return to Tram Station
Reach the Engineering Deck
The chapter starts in the Hangar Bay in zero gravity. Thorough exploration of the first part of the hangar is optional.
You must head east. After Isaac flies through the big gate, the passage will close behind him and you will be in the void. Fly south-east towards the hole from the picture. Defeat the small monsters. There is also an oxygen replenishment station at the hole.
In the large shaft, fly down and reach the airlock to leave the void. The next corridors will lead Isaac to the elevator.
Activate the Control Console
Head south towards the Control Room. Go to the console and load the diagnostic report.
After talking to Hammond, you will receive 3 mission objectives and you can complete them in any order (both refueling objectives are completed in the same area).
Refuel the Engines: South
Take the western exit from the central location, which leads to the Preparation Room.
Go down the ramp to the Machine Shop. Next to the corpse, you will find a Ripper - be sure to take this weapon and set as active in the inventory window. The Ripper is ideal for stopping and killing larger Necromorphs.
Take the southern passage to the Refueling Control Stations.
A moving platform leads to the southern refueling point. Use kinesis to pull the platform towards you. Board it and activate.
New necromorphs will start appearing in the distance before the platform reaches its destination. Attack them at range first, then select Ripper to stop them in melee combat. You can also target explosive red containers.
After the fights, explore the area to find the Fuel Station Keycard.
Go back to the small Fuel Management room you just passed by.
There is a switch inside the room. Your task is to turn on the fuse for the South Refueling Station. You can do this in 2 ways:
- by disabling the Lights fuse - you have to travel in the dark and use a flashlight;
- by disabling the Life Support fuse - you will need to replenish your oxygen supplies regularly.
Regardless of your choice, get to the Fuel Station South by following the blue connection. You have to use kinesis on the movable mechanism. You have to bring it down.
You can now return to the moving platform.
Refuel the Engines: North
This mission objective also requires you to go to the Refueling Control Stations - you have to reach its north-eastern part.
Defeat the necromorphs and reach Fuel Station North. Just like in the case of the southern station, you need to use kinesis on the mechanism and bring it down.
Now return to the Control Room. You can unlock a shortcut in the current location - reach the northern door and use a melee attack on the console next to it (the picture above).
Activate the Centrifuge
Take the eastern elevator in the central location that travels to the centrifuge level.
You will reach the Decontamination Room. After using the central console, you must survive the battle with the Necromorphs. Help yourself with a flashlight.
- Use the Plasma Cutter and the Pulse Rifle on smaller monsters.
- Use the Ripper to kill larger necromorphs.
Try to eliminate creatures quickly so that they die before new ones appear.
The exit will open after killing all the Necromorphs. Reach the long corridor surrounding the centrifuge and go right. Save the game before entering the large room, because it's easy to die in it.
In the new location, you have to complete a puzzle with turning on the centrifuge. There are 2 Clutches in the area. You have to fly to them and use kinesis to hook them up. Necromorphs will attack you during this process.
After dealing with the clutches, locate the balcony with an interactive console. Land on it and confirm that you want to restart the centrifuge.
Manually Ignite the Engines
Now you have to escape from the room with the centrifuge. There is void now and you need to keep an eye on your oxygen supplies (on the way you will find a station to replenish it).
Use the elevator. You must avoid the huge rotating centrifuge mechanism. Head left. Hide in the spaces on the sides and wait for the large mechanism to pass Isaac.
You'll encounter Necromorphs along the way - don't fight them in the open. Remember to quickly retreat to a safe place. You can also use stasis to slow monsters and get them hit by the centrifuge mechanism.
Reach a new small elevator that will take you up. Defeat more Necromorphs and leave the room with the centrifuge. Be sure to save your game, because the next part can be a challenge.
On the way back, Isaac will be grabbed by a giant tentacle. Defend yourself - you cannot let it drag you to the hole. You have to free yourself first.
Aim at the large tentacle growths - it's best to use the Plasma Cutter or the Pulse Rifle. Don't conserve your ammo because you have to hurry.
Return the same way to the Control Room. Open the eastern airlock in this location.
You will be in zero gravity. Replenish your stasis supplies (there's a console nearby) and use stasis on the large running fan. This will slow down the blades allowing you to fly to the other side.
There is a switch behind the fans. You must turn off the fuse for the fans and turn on the fuse for Airlock 2.
You can now return to the balcony and select the airlock that was previously inactive.
In the new location, shoot at the orange growth - destroying it will unlock a passage.
You will also find a flamethrower by the corpse in the same location. Take it - it's worth choosing it as an active weapon right away. The flamethrower is very useful, e.g. in eliminating smaller monsters. Squeeze through the narrow passage and reach the Fuel Storage.
Use the small elevator to go down to the lower level. Aim at the new growth - destroying it will unlock a passage.
Small crawling monsters will appear - the flamethrower is perfect for eliminating them. If the creatures jump on Isaac, press the interaction button quickly to throw them off. After the fights, reach another small elevator that travels to level 3.
You will meet a new type of Necromorph, which keeps small creatures in its big belly. Avoid shooting this part of the monster's body or use the flamethrower to kill it easier.
Use stasis on the west door and turn south. Burn more crawling monsters or throw an explosive canister at them.
Your destination is the Engine Room and, after entering it, defeat Necromorphs (Ripper and flamethrower will be great here).
You must locate the power cell and deliver it to Power Substation 03.
A bigger battle with the necromorphs will begin. Use kinesis to pick up stasis containers - the explosion will slow down all nearby monsters.
Fight until the procedure is complete. Reach the engine restart console.
Return to Tram Station
Leave the engine room and follow the corridors north. You can unlock a shortcut to the Control Room - use melee on the right console show in the picture. Note - monsters may appear in the Control Room. Defeat them before you can save the game or use the shop.
The Engineering Tram Station is north-west of the Control Room. Reaching it will advance you to chapter 4.
