Subnautica Below Zero: Oxygen - what are the available sources? How to get? Subnautica Guide and Walkthrough
Last update: 27 March 2021
In Subnautica: Below Zero, oxygen is necessary. When your oxygen tank gets depleted, your character will die. Oxygen consumption increases with depth. Your oxygen will deplete faster when you are at 200 meters than at 20. To avoid suffocating, you have to replenish your oxygen. You can do that in the two ways described below.
Areas with oxygen
The simplest way to replenish oxygen is to enter an area with it. This was the only option in the original game. Reach the base or resurface when your oxygen bar is nearly depleted. You can resurface faster by using Seamoth or Air Bladder.
Plants and fish
The expansion adds fish and plants that contain oxygen - Titan Holefish and Oxygen Plant. These species of fauna and flora have the ability to store oxygen. You can find them in almost every part of the map. They are hard to miss thanks to their characteristic appearance.
Titan Holefish is a large fish. It is blue and has a large hole in the center of its body. That hole is filled with oxygen. This fish is a herbivore so you won't have problems approaching it. It can be found in Sparse Arctic biome.
Oxygen Plant grows in Twisty Bridges biome. The plant is an air bubble hold in place with a thin stem. It likes to grow near cliffs and in narrow places - the plant is easy to miss.
