Subnautica Below Zero: Lilypad Islands - biome guide Subnautica Guide and Walkthrough
Last update: 27 March 2021
The Lilypad Islands are one of the most unique biomes that you will visit in Subnautica: Below Zero. This results not only from the characteristic structure of the zone but also from the presence of one of its inhabitants.
The biome's name comes from the plants which can be found within the area. These huge organisms resemble water lilies, and they grow on tiny islands which rise above the water. They are located mainly at a depth of maximum 100 meters. The zone itself is much deeper and reaches up to 250 meters.
Under the Lilypad Islands, at a depth of roughly 400 meters, there is a system of caves. During early access, however, these caves are filled only with unidentifiable plants, which resemble Jellyshrooms from the vanilla version of the game, as well as a few deposits of Quartz.
There are many useful resources in this biome, including Gel Sacks, Rubies, Table Coral Samples, and Quartz. In addition, in the central part of the biome, at a depth of roughly 150 meters, you can find an abandoned base. The base is a great source of various blueprints, so paying a visit there is basically mandatory.
Stalkers are the biggest threat in this zone. You will meet them practically at every corner. However, they are not the largest residents of this area. A Sea Emperor Leviathan lives by the Lilypad Islands. You can encounter this creature virtually anywhere. It is, however, not an aggressive being. If you approach it, it will only speak to you.
