Subnautica Below Zero: Arctic Kelp Forest - biome guide
Last update:
The further two zones which you'll encounter in Subnautica: Below Zero are Arctic Kelp Forest and Glacier. Both of these zones differ when compared to each other. Nevertheless, they have one thing in common - they are rather shallow.
Arctic Kelp Forest
Arctic Kelp Forest is near the starting location in Subnautica: Below Zero. This chapter contains a description of this biome.
Arctic Kelp Forest.
Arctic Kelp Forest is a rather shallow biome. Its maximum depth is 150 meters. You can explore it without any problems with a basic oxygen tank.
In the Early Access version, there is a cave system with a depth of about 250 meters (located below Arctic Kelp Forest). These caves are similar to Blood Kelp Caves. Currently, players can't interact with the plants. The passages leading to the caves are a good source of Silver Outcrop.
This biome is full of Arctic Kelp, the counterpart of the regular Kelp from the original game. This means that you can get Creepvine Seed Cluster and Creepvine Sample. Besides that, you can also find Quartz, Limestone Outcrop, and Salt Deposit.
This biome is safe. You won't find any predators.
Glacier
Glacier is a difficult zone to access, mainly cause of its depth - the biome is found at 200 meters and contains a single large cave. There is only a single entrance to the area, and it is found in the part of Deep Arctic located close to Twisty Bridges.
The cave does not contain any resources or life forms - the only thing you can encounter here is a fossil of a Leviathan.
