Subnautica: Mushroom Forest - biome guide
Last update:
The biome covers two separate areas. One of them is located to the northeast, and the other north of the starting location. Both are relatively shallow regions, with depth not exceeding 300 meters. Additionally, the northeastern area is polluted with radiation from the wreckage of the Aurora.
Moving near the seabed is possible in this biome, but only if you are using a smaller vehicle, like the Seamoth. The whole area is densely covered with giant Tree Mushrooms. They are the unique flora species of this biome and can reach up to several dozen meters of height. Their usage is, unfortunately rather limited. Their samples can only be used as bioreactor fuel, and not the best kind either.
When it comes to other resources, both areas have little to offer. Most of the surface is taken by Tree Mushrooms. Only cliffs and various outcrops offer some limestone, sandstone, shale, and Lithium. The northern area contains a wreck. Otherwise, this biome has nothing more interesting to offer.
This biome is rather safe. The only larger species of fauna found here is the Jellyray. Luckily, it's also a neutral species and shouldn't cause you any trouble. Near the borders of this biome though, you can encounter visiting predators from adjacent areas.
