Key information
- Resident Evil Village lets you get up to 50 achievements – 1 platinum achievement (PS4 and PS5 versions only), 3 gold achievements, 6 silver trophies and 40 bronze ones.
- The game has a challenging platinum achievement. This is mainly due to the need to complete it on the highest difficulty level, as well as on unusual objectives, such as avoiding healing, in a marked time period (speedrun) or using only a knife. You must be prepared to go through the campaign multiple times. Achieving the platinum for Resident Evil Village should take you around 30 hours, with a lot depending on your skills in dealing with enemies efficiently and avoiding serious damage and death.
- In RE8 there are some trophies associated with secrets and collectables. Among other things, you must find all the goats and all the files, as well as upgrade all available weapons. An additional complication is that some secrets can be missed as you progress through the game, although if you have access to savegames from various main locations, you can return there and unlock the missing secrets without having to restart the entire campaign.
- Quite a few of the trophies are awarded for progressing through the main storyline, though there are some for optional exploration and combat. Most of them are not problematic, although some achievements can only be earned in strictly defined locations on the map.
- Several trophies apply to The Mercenaries mode. The most challenging one is the achievement for earning the S rank in the various stages of this mode.
Ethan Winters
Type of achievement: platinum
Achievement description: Earn all the other achievements.
Notes: the Platinum trophy in Resident Evil Village is exclusive to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles.
Not Lycan This...
Type of achievement: bronze
Achievement description: Survive an attack of Lycans.
Notes: This trophy is related to the progress in the main storyline and you cannot miss it. It concerns the first major battle with the Lycans, which occurs shortly after you first arrive in the village. We described this confrontation on the First Battle in the Village page in the walkthrough.
Four Lords
Type of achievement: bronze
Achievement description: Escape from the mine.
Notes: This trophy is related to the progress in the main storyline and you cannot miss it. You will be forced to play out the mine escape scene on your way from the village to the Dimitrescu Castle. We discussed it in detail on the page in this guide that deals with the Escape from the Mine.
That Sucked!
Type of achievement: bronze
Achievement description: Defeat the mutant Lady Dimitrescu.
Notes: This trophy is related to the progress in the main storyline and you cannot miss it. The mutant Lady Dimitrescu is one of the main bosses of the campaign. We described this fight in the Bosses chapter on the Lady Dimitrescu - Main Duel page.
Got No Strings
Type of achievement: bronze
Achievement description: Defeat Donna and Angie.
Notes: This trophy is related to the progress in the main storyline and you cannot miss it. Donna Beneviento, along with the doll she controls, Angie, is one of the main bosses of the campaign. We described this fight in the Bosses chapter.
Fish Out of Water
Type of achievement: bronze
Achievement description: Defeat the mutant Moreau.
Notes: This trophy is related to the progress in the main storyline and you cannot miss it. Moreau in form of a mutated giant frog is one of the main bosses of the campaign. We described this fight in the Bosses chapter.
Up Urs!
Type of achievement: bronze
Achievement description: Defeat Urias in the Stronghold.
Notes: This trophy is related to the progress in the main storyline and you cannot miss it. Urias is a troll with a big hammer; it's one of the main bosses of the campaign. We described this fight in the Bosses chapter, on the Urias - hammer boss (Stronghold) page.
Temporary Measures
Type of achievement: bronze
Achievement description: Place the Giant's Chalice in the Ceremony Site.
Notes: This trophy is related to the progress in the main storyline and you cannot miss it. The Giant's Chalice item is obtained by defeating four different bosses in the game and delivering 4 Flask items to the Altar location. Ethan will then be able to reach the Stone Dais location and unlock access to the factory.
Iron Giant Down
Type of achievement: bronze
Achievement description: Defeat the mutant Heisenberg.
Notes: This trophy is related to the progress in the main storyline and you cannot miss it. Heisenberg is one of the main bosses of the campaign, with you having to defeat him in his mechanical form. We described this clash in the Bosses chapter on the Mutated Heisenberg page.
The Root of the Matter
Type of achievement: bronze
Achievement description: Find Megamycete in the underground ruins.
Notes: This trophy is related to the progress in the main storyline and you cannot miss it. It's related to the campaign finale – you have to reach the cavern with a huge living creature and the achievement will unlock without performing additional actions.
Great Dad
Type of achievement: bronze
Achievement description: Complete the game on at least Casual difficulty level.
Notes: Casual is the equivalent of low difficulty.
Best Dad Ever
Type of achievement: bronze
Achievement description: Complete the game on at least the Standard difficulty level.
Notes: Standard is the equivalent of normal difficulty level. Remember not to lower the difficulty level during the game (e.g. from the restart menu after death), because you will lose the chance to get the achievement.
World's Best Dad
Type of achievement : silver
Achievement description: Complete the game on at least Hardcore difficulty level.
Notes: Hardcore is the equivalent of high difficulty. Remember not to lower the difficulty level during the game (e.g. from the restart menu after death), because you will lose the chance to get the achievement.
Universe's Best Dad
Type of achievement: golden
Achievement description: Complete the game on the Village of Shadows difficulty level.
Notes: Village of Shadows is the equivalent of a very high difficulty level. This achievement is described in more detail on a separate page of the trophy guide.
Crafter
Type of achievement: bronze
Achievement description: Create an item in the Crafting menu.
Notes: This is a very easy trophy that you can easily get early on in the game. Shortly after arriving in the village, the hero obtains the ingredients needed to create a First Aid Med. Simply produce them in the Crafting menu.
Patron
Type of achievement: bronze
Achievement description: Purchase something from Duke in story mode.
Notes: Trader Duke is a friendly NPC who appears in various places as you progress through the game. The first encounter with him occurs on the way from the village to the city. You can purchase any item from his offerings.
Petty Thief
Type of achievement: bronze
Achievement description: Open a simple lock using a pick.
Notes: We've described the use of lockpicks in the chapter titled Lockpicks - how to get and use them? You can find it elsewhere in our guide.
You can either find the clues in the game world or buy them from Duke.
After getting the lockpick, continue exploring the game world until you come across a locked container (marked as 'Lockpick' on the map). After interacting with it, choose a picklock from the main character's inventory.
Repairer
Type of achievement: bronze
Achievement description: Combine treasures into their complete form.
Comment: This achievement is described in detail on a separate page in this guide.
Hunter
Type of achievement: bronze
Achievement description: Hunt an animal down in the story mode.
Comment: The earliest you can unlock this achievement is when you are leaving the Dimitrescu Castle. As Ethan makes his way through the cave, he will come to a body of water with fish swimming in it. You can shoot them or use a knife (it's a good idea to try crouching first for more precision).
You can also get the trophy in many other places in the rest of the game. You may come across chickens and pigs that can be killed as well.
Get the Ball Rolling
Type of achievement: bronze
Achievement description: Solve the Labyrinth puzzle.
Notes: This trophy is related to the Labyrinth Puzzles that you can find in various places in the game world. The first such puzzle is found in the Dimitrescu Castle in the Merchant's Room. Each puzzle can only be started after finding the matching ball and consists of tilting the model to direct the rolling ball.
We described the first puzzle of this type on the Labyrinth Puzzle page.
Goooaaal!
Type of achievement: bronze
Achievement description: Guide the ball from Winters' bedroom to the study.
Notes: You can get this trophy at the very beginning of the game, i.e. during the prologue in the house of Ethan, Mia and their daughter Rose. Start by going to the first floor and putting Rose in her crib.
In the same room upstairs, you will find the green ball shown in the picture.
Begin to collide with the ball and push it toward the adjacent Study, the room with the laptop on. Try to make sure that the ball doesn't get jammed somewhere between the furniture. The achievement will unlock right after the ball passes the door frame at the entrance to the study.
Squawk Shot
Type of achievement: bronze
Achievement description: Shoot down five flying ravens in the story mode.
Notes: You can find ravens as you progress through the game. They may perch on rooftops or scarecrows, for example, as well as fly over the are. The example location with ravens in the image above is the path from the village side to Dimitrescu Castle, where you will meet Duke for the first time. You can also look for ravens in the village cemetery, among other places.
It is worth noting that the described achievement is about killing ravens in flight. If you find parched birds, you must scare them first and shoot them down only mid-air. If you don't want to waste ammo, try to use only the pistol. You can also get to the places with ravens shortly after saving the game at the typewriter, so that you can repeat the attempt if you use up too much ammunition.
When You Gotta Go...
Type of achievement: bronze
Achievement description: Open the doors of all Outhouses in the village within a single playthrough of the game.
Notes: This isn't a very difficult trophy, though it does involve careful exploration of the area. You must find privies adjacent to buildings on the world map. Each of them needs to be opened. There are a total of 10 outcrops to be located.
The most problematic privy is the one in the Reservoir location, which is the wetlands where Moreau is hunted. Its location is shown in the images above – it is next to the building with the sluice control mechanism. Investigate this privy before you go any further.
On the Outcroppings page in the Secrets and Collectables chapter of our guide you will find a map of the world with the exact places to find them marked. Try to discover them all before you head to the final location, i.e. the Heisenberg factory.
Hooligan
Type of achievement: bronze
Achievement description: Smash all the windows in Dimitrescu Castle within a single playthrough of the game.
Notes: While exploring Dimitrescu Castle, some of the shutters can be broken; it is best to use a knife to do it. Try to destroy the shutters in each new room and hallway you reach. There are a total of 19 windows to be broken.
Note – Make sure to get the achievement before you head to the Tower of Worship, because after defeating the castle boss you won't be able to return to this location.
Quit Hanging Around
Type of achievement: bronze
Achievement description: Shoot the Soldat hanging from the production line in the Factory.
Notes: You can compete for the trophy after you reach the main part of the factory, which is the large area shown in the picture above, where you can see production lines in the distance.
Use a sniper rifle - ideally, you want a model with a purchased scope upgrade that allows you to zoom in. Aim for one of the hooks on which the Soldats are hanging. A successful hit will lead to detaching the Soldat and earning the achievement.
Push Comes to Shove
Type of achievement: bronze
Achievement description: Push back an opponent after performing a Guard in the story mode.
Notes: You can get this achievement in any fight with normal enemies, for example when you encounter the first Lycan after you start exploring the village for the first time.
You must press the guard button (L1 / LB) when your opponent attacks and then press it a second time to push your opponent away. It shouldn't be very difficult, although pushing back will only work if the monster is standing very close to Ethan. Otherwise, the character will "miss" the pushback. Fortunately, you can attempt this multiple times within the same fight.
Trick Shot
Type of achievement: bronze
Achievement description: Defeat an enemy from a long distance with a sniper rifle in the story mode.
Notes: This is an easy achievement that you can get right after obtaining the sniper rifle. As a reminder, the sniper is found in the attic (Attic) of Dimitrescu Castle.
Shortly after getting the sniper rifle, you will go out on the roof and notice flying monsters. Don't move from your spot, just wait for one of the monsters to land on any of the rooftops in the distance. Only then try shooting them.
Strategist
Type of achievement: bronze
Achievement description: Kill at least three enemies in a single attack in the story mode.
Notes: You can get this trophy quite easily during the first big battle with the Lycans shortly after arriving to the village. While this fight is playing out, Ethan can barricade himself in the hut in the image above; it contains an explosive red barrel.
Wait for the lycans to destroy the barricade and for a larger group of them to burst into the hut. Shoot the explosive barrel to make it explode.
You can unlock the achievement more easily by playing on Casual difficulty level, where monsters will be less resilient. You will increase the chances that the barrel explosion will kill them, rather than just injure them.
Medium Rare
Type of achievement: bronze
Achievement description: Set Moroaica on fire in the story mode.
Comment: This achievement is described in detail on a separate page in this guide.
Fast Reflexes
Type of achievement: bronze
Achievement description: Dispose of a flying flaming arrow with a melee weapon in the story mode.
Notes: You can fight for this trophy while crossing the Stronghold in the eastern part of the world map. While passing through this location, you will encounter, among others, archers shooting flaming arrows – see an example in the picture.
Have your Knife ready and press the attack button just before the arrow hits Ethan. This will probably take several attempts, as this action needs to be timed perfectly.
Leader of the Pack
Type of achievement: bronze
Achievement description: Defeat Varcolac Alpha in the story mode.
Notes: Varcolac Alpha is one of the game's mini-bosses, and you can go hunting for it no sooner than after returning from the Reservoir, the location where you defeated the boss Moreau. You must visit the Fallow Plot field in the image above – as a reminder, it's located between the Church and Louisa's House.
A stronger Varcolac Alpha will appear in the area. After getting his attention (e.g. if you want to use a sniper attack) you can rely on the method of conducting fire while standing near one of the huts, where you can always hide after the monster comes. You can use any weapon you like, though obviously a magnum revolver will be the most effective. Continue this "cat and mouse game" until Varcolac Alpha is defeated.
Timber
Type of achievement: bronze
Achievement description: Defeat Urias during the first Lycan attack after entering the village.
Notes: This is a difficult trophy, and may be best to contest it only when replaying the game on the lowest difficulty, Casual. Getting it can also make it significantly easier to unlock better weapons with unlimited ammo. This will allow you to attack Urias efficiently without having to switch to weaker weapons.
The achievement is tied to the first major battle with the Lycans, which occurs shortly after you reach the village for the first time. Ethan will initially fight only ordinary monsters, but later in the battle Urias will also join the fray – it's a large opponent wielding a hammer and we've shown him in the attached image. In order to weaken Urias, use the shotgun and stay near the explosive red barrels. You must defeat the troll before the battle prematurely ends with a cut-scene showing the arrival of enemies on horseback.
Photographer
Type of achievement: bronze
Achievement description: Use the Photo Mode.
Notes: This is one of the easiest trophies of the game. It only requires you to activate the photo mode for the first time, which is accessible from the pause menu. You do not have to take any photos, just launch the mode. You will receive the trophy after closing the Photo Mode.
Lucky Number 7
Type of achievement: bronze
Achievement description: Have a 777; 7,777; or 77,777 Lei in the story mode.
Notes: Lei means money – the local currency. You can earn money by collecting it in the game world, and selling stuff to Duke. Try to get close to a score of 777 or 7777 and then make a couple of small transactions to round it off. It's a good idea to have a calculator to quickly work out how many credits you need at any one time to reach one of the required values.
Mapmatician
Type of achievement: bronze
Achievement description: Complete a map of the village.
Notes: Completing the village map does not mean searching 100% of all buildings in the village in order to turn them blue. You simply have to get the entire world map uncovered through exploration. Here are some useful tips:
- Investigating the village is best done just before heading to the Heisenberg factory. You will have all the gadgets needed for exploration.
- It's easiest to miss exploring the areas you arrive at by boat. As a reminder, you have to get to the location with the Drawbridge and after lowering it with the help of the Crank, to unlock the access to the boat. You can sail it south (a pond with fish and a cave with a laptop, among other things) and to the north (a mini-loch under a well and a dungeon with the golden chest of the Riverbank Treasure House).
- It's also important to use the crank on all Mechanical Doors on the map. This will get you to the side area with the magnum and to the roof of one of the huts.
You can only receive the trophy after advancing to the finale, specifically after reaching the vicinity of the burning village (image above). This will only happen, of course, if you have previously explored the entire village map.
Cynic
Type of achievement: bronze
Achievement description: Destroy the Goat of Warding.
Notes: Goat of Warding is one of the categories of collectables in the game – an example from the village graveyard is shown in the picture. Each goat must be destroyed by, for example, shooting it with a gun or using a knife. This will make the goat disappear.
Heretic
Type of achievement: bronze
Achievement description: Destroy all Goat of Warding goats.
Notes: This is a more difficult version of the Cynic trophy described above. You must find all of the goats. Some are hidden very well, but the sounds they make help in locating them.
The locations of all 20 goats are described in the Secrets and Collectables chapter.
Gunsmith
Type of achievement: bronze
Achievement description: Equip your weapon with a new Customizable Part.
Notes: Go to the description of the Veteran Gunsmith trophy.
Veteran Gunsmith
Type of achievement: bronze
Achievement description: Equip all weapons with Customizable Parts in the story mode.
Notes: This trophy is related to weapon modifications that you can obtain as you progress through the game:
- The 17 parts are available for purchase at Duke's, but you must have a large amount of credits (Lei) to get them. Not all modifications appear immediately in the sales window. Duke's offerings are gradually expanded as you progress through the game.
- You can find the 5 parts as loot in the game world (the image above shows an example of an upgrade found in the suitcase). Locations for upgrades are listed on the Weapons page of the Secrets and Collectables chapter.
After getting each modification, open your inventory, select the weapon it matches, and select Equip Part to install it.
Tinkerer
Type of achievement: bronze
Achievement description: Create all available object types in the Crafting menu.
Notes: Crafting is one of the tabs in the equipment menu and Ethan can create new items based on the crafting ingredients he obtains.
Unfortunately, you can't get this achievement right away because the main character doesn't initially know all the schemes for making equipment. Below, you will find a breakdown of the 11 crafting-based objects to create, along with information on how to unlock the associated blueprints:
- Pistol Ammo– You can craft ammunition from the very beginning of the game.
- First Aid Med – You can make medicine from the very beginning of the game.
- Mines – You must purchase the recipe from Duke (first meeting in front of Dimitrescu Castle).
- Shotgun Ammo – You must purchase the recipe from Duke (first encounter before Dimitrescu Castle).
- Sniper Rifle Ammo – You must purchase the recipe from Duke (first encounter in front of Dimitrescu Castle).
- Pipe Bombs – You must purchase the recipe from Duke (available when you return to the village from the castle).
- Explosive Round – You must purchase the recipe from Duke (available when you return to the village from the Beneviento House).
- Flashbang – You must purchase the recipe from Duke (available when you return to the village from the Beneviento House).
- Rifle Ammo – The recipe is available with the second playthrough of the game. You have to purchase it from Duke.
- Magnum Ammo – The recipe is available starting with the second playthrough of the game. You have to purchase it from Duke.
- Rocket Pistol Ammo – The recipe is available starting with the second playthrough of the game. You have to purchase it from Duke.
Artisan
Type of achievement: bronze
Achievement description: Collect all the recipes for crafting.
Notes: This trophy is directly related to the Tinkerer achievement described above. You must ultimately obtain 11 recipes for crafting equipment.
Bookworm
Type of achievement: bronze
Achievement description: Read all the Files in the story mode.
Notes: This is one of the more difficult trophies related to collectables, as you have to find all the files available in the game. These can include notes, documents, journals, messages stored on a computer, or interactive badges. All unlocked files are collected in the hero's Journal in the Files tab.
Their location is described in the Files subsection of this guide.
Finds from this group can unfortunately be missed quite easily and this will happen if you leave a place too early. Try to thoroughly explore all newly visited locations, especially the house from the prologue, Dimitrescu Castle and the factory. If you miss a collectible, you don't have to restart the whole game. If you have manual saves, you can use them to return to the area with the missing items and leave after collecting it. All the secrets you acquire are saved on-the-fly, and you don't have to collect them all in a single playthrough.
Don't Trust That Snake Oil
Type of achievement: golden
Achievement description: Complete the story mode by consuming no more than four medkits.
Notes: This is one of several difficult trophies associated with completing the game's main storyline in specific ways. The achievement is best obtained in a separate playthrough of the game on the lowest difficulty level, Casual.
Try to avoid taking damage at all costs when fighting ordinary opponents. Ethan will most likely need HP regeneration during clashes with bosses. If the character is on the verge of death, try to move to safety and catch a breath. Energy will be slightly replenished, enough to not worry about dying after 1 attack from a normal opponent.
Dashing Dad
Type of achievement : silver
Achievement description: Complete the story mode in less than 3 hours.
Notes: This is one of several difficult trophies associated with completing the game's main storyline in specific ways. The achievement is best obtained in a separate playthrough of the game on the lowest difficulty level, Casual.
Resident Evil Village is a longer game than Resident Evil 7, and you have to reckon with the fact that fitting into this time frame will be challenging. Save the game frequently at the typewriters. If you die or waste too much time in any location, load the last save from the main menu and repeat the section. By using manual saves, you can check the game timer.
Frugal Father
Type of achievement : silver
Achievement description: Complete the story mode by spending no more than 10000 Lei.
Notes: This is one of several difficult trophies associated with completing the game's main storyline in specific ways. The achievement is best obtained in a separate playthrough of the game on the lowest difficulty level, Casual.
In this playthrough, we recommend making a single purchase at Duke's – an inventory expansion case worth exactly 10000 credits. From this point on, ignore any further purchases from Duke and replenish your supplies by exploring the environment.
Knives Out
Type of achievement: golden
Achievement Description: With the exception of selected boss fights, complete the story mode using only melee weapons.
Notes: This is one of several difficult trophies associated with completing the game's main storyline in specific ways. The achievement is best obtained within a separate playthrough of the game. This will primarily allow you to purchase a Karambit Knife from the Extra Content Shop (costs 10000 CP), which is the one Chris used in the stage in the burning village. This knife deals more damage than the white weapon Ethan starts with.
When replaying the campaign, be sure to set the difficulty to Casual so that monsters die faster and you take less damage yourself. Try to avoid unnecessary confrontations with common enemies and focus on advancing the plot. Don't ignore collecting loot though, as you can sell it or use it for crafting.
The achievement description mentions several exceptions where firearms are allowed. These are:
- The 5 Bells Puzzle in Dimitrescu Castle – the game will allow you to use firearms to hit the bells, as 4 of the 5 bells cannot be reached.
- Reservoir crossing – In one of the areas, you must hit a distant object to unlock further passage.
- Heisenberg's Factory – you must use your firearm to hit the reactors under the large Grinder Shaft blade (do this only after defeating the Soldat Jet enemies with the knife) and the single fan reactor in the Ventilation Duct.
- Duel with the mutant Heisenberg – During the fight, you are allowed to use the mini-tank, but after you are thrown from it and start moving on your own, you must switch to the knife (do not use the sniper).
Final boss – You are allowed to use a firearm once to complete the duel with Miranda.
Combo King
Type of achievement: bronze
Achievement description: Get at least 30x combo in The Mercenaries mode.
Notes: The premise of this gameplay mode is described in detail on The Mercenaries Mode page in the Game Guide chapter.
As a reminder, the Combo point multiplier is raised by killing enemies in short bursts between each other. You have to take care not to have too long gaps between kills, because then the multiplier will be reset. Monsters always appear in the same varieties and in the same locations – you can memorize their location and be better prepared to deal with them.
Legendary Cowbog
Type of achievement : silver
Achievement description: Earn at least an S Rank in all stages of The Mercenaries mode.
Notes:This is a difficult trophy associated with The Mercenaries bonus mode. The game makes the type of rank earned dependent on the number of points accumulated – try to keep the point multiplier high as long as possible, and finish rounds with plenty of time and credits in reserve.
You must ultimately achieve at least rank S (not the highest) in all 8 stages of Mercenaries Mode. It's worth noting that only the first stage of Village is available initially. However, you will be able to unlock further locations by reaching high ranks.
Doll Collector
Type of achievement : silver
Achievement description: View all character and weapon Figures.
Comment: Buying 3D Figures only becomes possible after completing the game for the first time (on any difficulty), as an Extra Content Shop will then be unlocked in the Bonuses tab of the main menu.
You must be interested in the Figure items from the store – they are very cheap (100 or 200 Completion Points), but there are as many as 76 to purchase. You have to spend about 9000 CP to unlock all of them.
Once you have made your purchase, go to the Figures menu under Bonuses. Start scrolling through the list of 3-D models to mark each one as viewed. Once you reach the bottom of the list, the achievement should unlock.
Art Collector
Type of achievement : silver
Achievement description: View all the Concept Art.
Comment: Buying Concept Art is only possible after completing the game for the first time (on any difficulty), as an Extra Content Shop will then be unlocked in the Bonuses tab of the main menu.
You must be interested in the Concept Art items from the store – each costs just 100 Completion Points, but there are as many as 120 to purchase. This means that you have to spend 12000 CP to unlock all the bonuses.
Once you have made your purchase, go to the Concept Art menu under Bonuses. Stop at the thumbnail of each graphic to mark it as viewed – you don't need to view it full screen. Uncheck all 120 items this way to unlock the trophy.
