Resident Evil Village: Finding the house with the red chimney - walkthrough Resident Evil Village guide, walkthrough
Last update: 17 May 2021
On this page of the Resident Evil Village game guide, you will find a walkthrough of finding the house with the red chimney - this is one of the main tasks you must complete during your second visit to the village. From this guide you will learn how to solve the workshop puzzle and how to find the jack handle and where to use it.
- Taking the jack handle out of the workshop
- Lifting the tractor
- Reaching the house with the red chimney
Taking the jack handle out of the workshop
You start in the Altar, where you will find Duke, a trader, and an altar for placing the yellow jars you found. The previously acquired Winged Key will be necessary to open the east gate. You will reach a red padlocked gate - destroy it in any way you can (by using a knife, gun, etc.).
You can re-enter the central part of the village, but be aware that you will encounter new monsters while exploring it. Exploring the village in full is optional, but it's worth checking out the areas you couldn't investigate during your first visit to the village.
Reach the Maiden of War's square located south of the cemetery. The gate pictured in the image above is now open and you can explore the yard by one of the houses.
The main character has to investigate the shed and in the spot in the picture, you will need to use the interaction button to unlock further passage. Watch out for new lycans - you may be forced to defeat them.
Ultimately, you must reach the area shown in the above images in the southern part of the village. It's a Workshop that you were unable to explore during your first visit to the village. Now you can destroy the padlock using a method that's well-known to you and get inside.
Take notice of the single hut, where you will have to solve a puzzle requiring you to figure out the combination to the indestructible padlock. The hint in the hut suggests to look outside the window, but watch out for the lycan that will unexpectedly appear.
The correct combination is 070408. Inside the cabinet you will find a Jack Handle (quest item) and an M1911 pistol (it has slightly better starting stats than the LEMI pistol you are currently using - you can keep using your current pistol or start using the new one).
Lifting the tractor
Watch out for more lycans on the way out of the workshop. Head west from the workshop, bringing the acquired Jack Handle with you. You will find the tractor showcased in the picture and there is a yellow jack on the back of the tractor. Use the handle on it.
Position yourself between the tractor tires to force your character to crawl under the machine. You will reach West Old Town.
Reaching the house with the red chimney
Expect to have to eliminate more monsters during the upcoming journey. Among them will be an armored lycan. Try to aim for its head if possible. You can dispose of the monster more effectively with the help of the sniper rifle and long range fire as well as pipe bombs, for example.
While traversing the new section of the village, you once again have the chance to optionally explore and investigate the buildings and courtyards along the way.
One such find will be the Well Wheel shown in the picture, which will allow you to interact with wells and find various treasures inside of them.
Your main objective is to locate the ladder from picture no. 1 that will allow Ethan to reach the roof . This will enable you to reach the sought-after building from picture no. 2, which was surrounded by blocked passages on all sides.
You need to locate the ladder again, this time to get to the roof of the building you are looking for and to get inside by jumping through the large hole in the roof.
Watch out for the monster inside and try to dispose of it quickly. Your goal is to find the bed and the box lying on it. Inside are components that will allow you to upgrade the previously obtained key and acquire the new Four-Winged Key.
You can now exit the house and unlock the courtyard exit from the inside. Return to Duke in the Altar location to listen to the conversation about lords. Their whereabouts will be added to the world map, and you will have to encounter them in a predetermined order.
Additional new attractions:
- Gold chests are marked on the map - These are locations with unique treasures, which we described in a separate chapter of the guide.
- You can now also cook food at Duke's - They grant permanent stat upgrades, but you will have to provide Duke with crafting ingredients first. We described cooking on a separate page dedicated to the Duke.
