Clouds in Divinity Original Sin 2 are created when water or blood is turned into Steam or when you put down fire and it changes into Smoke Cloud. After that, you can inflict one of the effects that can change their function - all of this, along with the ways of creating and removing those effects, is presented in our guide.
Basic clouds
Effect | How to create | Description + how to remove |
Fire Cloud | Laser Ray spell (Pyrokinetic) | Creates a Fire Cloud. Inflicts Burning status on a character which deals fire damage per turn - this effect is blocked by magic armor. Can be removed by using Rain and Tornado spell. |
Steam Cloud | Inflicting Fire on a surface covered in Water. | Creates a Steam Cloud that removes Burning effect from a character. Can be electrified thanks to Shock effect. Can be removed by using Tornado spell. |
Blood Cloud | Inflicting Fire on a surface covered in Blood. | Creates a Blood Cloud. Causes no negative nor positive effects. Can be electrified thanks to Shock effect. Can be removed by using Bless effect and Tornado spell. |
Poison Cloud | Can be created by some spells from Geomancer school, grenades and arrows. | Creates a Poison Cloud that inflicts Poisoned effect and deals damage per turn - this effect is blocked by magic armor. Can be removed by using Fire effect (causes explosion) and Tornado spell. |
Smoke Cloud | Inflicting Water or Ice on a surface covered in Fire. | Creates a Smoke Cloud that blocks visibility - characters that are inside of it can have a limited range of attacks and characters that stand outside of it can't see targets on the other side. Can be removed by using Tornado spell. |
Electrified Steam Cloud | Inflicting Shock on Steam Cloud. | Creates an Electrified Steam Cloud that deals Air damage and inflicts Shocked and then Stunned effect. Can be removed by using Tornado spell. |
Electrified Blood Cloud | Inflicting Shock on Blood Cloud. | Creates an Electrified Blood Cloud that deals Air damage and inflicts Shocked and then Stunned effect. Can be removed by using Tornado spell. |
Deathfog Cloud | Can't be created - it can only be found on a map. | A character dies immediately. Undead are invulnerable to this effect. |
Blessed Clouds
Similarly to surfaces, Bless can also be used on clouds which changes their function.

Blessed Fire Cloud | Inflicting Bless on Fire Cloud | Grants invulnerability to Frozen effect and heals characters. Can be removed by using Curse effect and Tornado spell. |
Blesed Steam Cloud | Inflicting Bless on Steam Cloud | Heals characters. Can be removed by using Curse effect and Tornado spell. |
Blessed Blood Cloud | Inflicting Bless on Blood Cloud | Heals characters. Can be removed by using Curse effect and Tornado spell. |
Blessed Poison Cloud | Inflicting Bless on Poison Cloud | Inflicts regeneration effect. Deals damage to Undead. Can be removed by using Curse effect and Tornado spell. |
Blessed Smoke Cloud | Inflicting Bless on Smoke Cloud | Grants Invisibility which makes characters invisible to enemies. Removes Silence. Can be removed by using Curse effect and Tornado spell. |
Blessed Electrified Steam Cloud | Inflicting Bless on Electrified Steam Cloud. | Inflicts Haste effect which increase character's speed of movement and grants 1 additional AP per turn. Can be removed by using Curse effect and Tornado spell. |
Blessed Electrified Blood Cloud | Inflicting Bless on Electrified Blood Cloud. | Inflicts Haste effect which increase character's speed of movement and grants 1 additional AP per turn. Can be removed by using Curse effect and Tornado spell. |
Cursed Clouds
Similarly to surfaces, Curse can also be used on clouds which changes their functions into negative.

Cursed Fire Cloud | Inflicting Curse on Fire Cloud | Creates Necrofire effect that resembles a regular fire, however, this one can't be put out with water. Effects are blocked by magic armor. Can't be removed with Rain spell. Can be removed by using Bless effect and Tornado spell. |
Cursed Steam Cloud | Inflicting Curse on Steam Cloud | Inflicts Decaying effect on characters - healing effects deal them damage. This effect is blocked by physical armor. It also deals Water damage. Can be removed by using Bless effect and Tornado spell. |
Cursed Blood Cloud | Inflicting Curse on Blood Cloud | Inflicts Decaying effect on characters - healing effects deal them damage. This effect is blocked by physical armor. It also deals Water damage. Can be removed by using Bless effect and Tornado spell. |
Cursed Poison Cloud | Inflicting Curse on Poison Cloud. | Inflicts Acid effect which takes a little bit of physical armor each turn and inflicts Poisoned which deals damage each turn. Can be removed by using Bless effect and Tornado spell. |
Cursed Smoke Cloud | Inflicting Curse on Smoke Cloud. | Inflicts Blind and Suffocating - the first drastically reduces character's range of attack and the second damages a certain amount of magic armor per turn. Can be removed by using Bless effect and Tornado spell. |
Cursed Electrified Steam Cloud | Inflicting Curse on Electrified Steam Cloud. | Inflicts Stunned which stuns a character for one turn and deals Air damage. Effects can be blocked by magic armor. Can be removed by using Bless effect and Tornado spell. |
