Side quests in Holland Valley Far Cry 5 Guide and Walkthrough

This page contains walkthroughs for side quests that can be unlocked in Holland Valley. Some of them are available right away while others require you to, e.g. capture a cult outpost first or to meet an important NPC during a story mission. Bear Necessities

How to unlock: Capture the outpost in Gardenview Packing Facility. That place is located west of Rae-Rae's Pumpkin Farm. Rescue the hostages and speak with one of them.

One of the NPCs will inform you about a problem with bears. Head to the garden marked on your map. You have to kill 3 bears. Travel with a powerful ally and use either a shotgun or a heavy machine gun. The first bear is easy to find. You can reach the other bear by following corpses and blood trails. The last animal hides in the cave presented in the picture.

Rewards for completing the mission: $830, 100 resistance points.

Baptism of Fire

How to unlock: Find the place where stunts are performed.

Visit Clutch Nixon location presented in the picture 1 to unlock this quest - that place is located south of Rae-Rae's Pumpkin Farm (the same location where Death Wish main quest ends). Find the stand. Interact with it to start this trial. You have to reach checkpoints before time runs out. Luckily for you, each new checkpoint restores a little bit of the time.

Rewards for completing this mission: Uncle Sam (a stunt vehicle), $750, 200 resistance points.

Spray and Pray

How to unlock: Examine the stunts location.

Visit Clutch Nixon location presented in the picture 1 to start this quest - that place can be found right next to the road that leads to Copperhead Rail Yard cult outpost. Interact with the stand to unlock this stunt trial.

You have to fly a plane and complete the course before the time runs out. This is a difficult trial that requires a knowledge on Far Cry 5's flying system. Don't fly too slow because you will run out of time. Don't fly too fast either because it is easy to make a mistake and miss some of the checkpoints (fly towards other checkpoints if you still have time) or to crush into a tree or ground. The regular checkpoints require you to simply fly through them. The ones with a shield (see the picture 2) have to be shot with a turret first. Don't let the time run out. However, the time limit is partially replenished every time when you fly through a checkpoint.

Rewards for completing this mission: Stars & Stripes (a stunt plane), $750, 200 resistance points.

Uncrate

How to unlock: Liberate the outpost in US Auto. The best opportunity to recapture that place is during Death Wish main quest. Find the NPC in US Auto who can give you this mission.

One of the NPCs in the outpost tells you about missing members of the resistance. You have to investigate three areas, all in the same location. Two of them are containers - destroy padlocks to open them. Be careful while you are investigating the container from the picture 1 because there is a bear inside of it. You can place traps before you open it or you can simply use heavy weaponry and kill that animal.

One of the missing resistance members is in the locked room in the main building. Free that person by finding Washroom Key presented in the picture 2.

Rewards for completing this mission: $800, 100 resistance points.

Valley Armed Convoy

This quest appears automatically in your journal once you deal enough damage to the cult in Holland Valley (after reaching level 1 out of 3 on the bar that represents resistance's strength in a given region). Your task is to attack and destroy three convoys that can be found in this region.

Equip your character with a rocket launcher, a grenade launcher or at least a heavy machinegun before you try to complete this mission. You should also check if you happen to have a vehicle equipped with weapons (e.g. The Widowmaker truck acquired after completing one of the story missions). Another important thing is to take a good specialist with you - preferably Hurk Drubman Junior. Your first targets should be the vehicles with turrets mounted on their roofs.

Rewards for completing this mission: $1,500, 200 resistance points.

Exodus

How to unlock: Complete Grace Under Fire main quest in the Lamb of God Church and speak with one of the NPCs in that location.

The quest giver should stand somewhere near the church. Your objective is to save a few people. Head to the Dock. Remain undetected throughout the entire mission - otherwise you will fail this quest. Use weapons with a silencer, a crossbow and stealth takedowns. Grace can also help you in this mission. You won't fail it if she gets detected and attacked. Use height advantage to eliminate your enemies or slide down the rope.

Save the hostages only after you secure the area. You have to rescue 3 people but reaching them won't complete the mission. You have to take them to a safe place. Go to the location marked by the game (you can swim across the river). Prepare yourself to face more cultists and wild animals while you are on your way. Don't sneak during this part of the quest - kill enemies as fast as possible before they manage to hurt the hostages.

Rewards for completing this mission: $770, 100 resistance points.

Testy Festy

How to unlock the mission: You must free Fall's End city and speak to Casey

Casey Fixman is a cook in Fall's End. He will tell you about the titular festival. It's the first of two side missions related to that event. Go to Hyde's Barn and speak to Kenny Hyde. He will tell you that the key to the barn was swallowed by a vulture. Use assault rifle or other weapon to shoot down the vultures flying above the farm. Examine the remains of each bird. The Hyde's key should be near the corpse of the last vulture.

Use the key to open the barn. Destroy the lock on the interior door in the barn and enter the pick-up. You must reach the Fall's End and the trailer must remain attached to the vehicle. Stick to roads and avoid hitting large trees or other indestructible obstacles. Don't get too close to bypassed cultists. Park the car in the marked place.

Rewards for completing the mission: 700 dollars, 200 resistance points.

Prairie Oyster Harvest

How to unlock the mission: You must complete the side mission Testy Festy and speak with Casey again.

Speak with Casey Fixman in Fall's End again after you reach the city in his pick-up. Go to Davenpoty Farm located west from the city. First get to the enclave with cows. Destroy the lock and free the animals. Now you must murder 3 bulls - each one in a different way:

1. Kill the first one during mating (stick close to the freed cows to quickly identify the animal).
2. Kill the second one with a tractor with a scythe. Enter the machine and drive through any bull.
3. Kill the third one by burning the animal. The easiest way to do it is by using Molotov's cocktail.

Walk towards the bull after each kill and collect his testicles. Important - the game won't let you take the items if you killed a bull in a different way.

Once you have the "trophies" go to Casey (you will find him on the field where the festival is going to take place). The action will resume after the event ends. You can shoot the balloons on the scarecrow with a bow. Spend some time on learning how the crosshair works - this will increase your chances for victory. Quest will end even if you fail to destroy all balloons before the time runs out.

Rewards for completing the mission: 1425 dollars, 200 resistance points, new shirt (Testicle Festival).

Lightem Up

This mission will appear automatically in your journal once you weaken cultists enough in Holland Valley. You will be informed that you can destroy cult's property. An example silo that you can destroy is presented on the above picture - there are 14 silo to destroy in Holland Valley. You can find them by exploring the world or you can discover their location through maps or conversations with NPCs. You can also check the Maps section of our guide, where you will find helpful markings of interesting objects and locations, including silos.

Once you reach the object, it is best to use rocket launcher or remote explosive to destroy them. Each destroyed silo provides you with 100 resistance points

Rewards for completing the mission: 900 dollars, 200 resistance points.

The Judge Moose

How to unlock the mission: You must take over cultists outpost in Green-Busch Fertilizer Co. Find the NPC that will give you the mission in the liberated location.

One of the people in the area will tell you that you can hunt a very rare type of moose. The hunt must take place in the southern part of Holland Valley. It is best to reach the swamps in a boat.

What makes things harder is the fact that Bliss had spread across the swamps. The drug will cause hallucinations. Don't be surprised when the attacked moose disappears or multiplies. Look always for the "copy" that doesn't disappear after the first attack. You should also observe the health bar of the target in the upper left corner of the screen. If you have problem with keeping the protagonist alive, take a specialist that is effective in melee combat like Hurk or Cheeseburger. It is best to attack the judge moose with heavy machine gun (the weapon can be found near the corpse at the swamps - there you will also find ammunition and medical kits). Once the creature dies, the quest will end.

Rewards for completing the mission: 850 dollars, 100 resistance points.

Special Delivery

How to unlock: Automatically after Wingman and The Quality of Mercy main quests.

Shortly after killing John Seed and rescuing deputy Hudson from the cultists' bunker you should receive a radio message from Kim Rye. Reach Rye & Sons Aviation and enter the house. You learn that Kim is about to give a birth. Your task is to take both Kim and Nick to Hope County Clinic before the time runs out. You can restore a little bit of that time by reaching the "checkpoints".

This mission is easy. Stick to the main roads, avoid collisions with obstacles on the roads (tractors, hay etc.) and listen to Nick's orders by turning either left or right on the crossroads. Drive on a ramp in the final part.

Rewards for completing this mission: Special delivery trophy, a new shirt (Rye and Daughter), $700.

Golden Age Nostalgia

How to unlock: Speak with Nadine Abercrombie in Dodd Residence.

Dodd Residence is located in the mountains in center of Holland Valley (far to the south from Rae-Rae's Pumpkin Farm). Meet with Nadine Abercrombie. You learn that she is interested in comic books and that she wants to have a collection of them. Find 12 comic book volumes and bring them to Nadine. Comic books are one of the collectibles available in Far Cry 5. Look for them in all locations with fast travel points in Holland Valley (including those that belong to your allies).

Rewards for completing this mission: $900, 200 resistance points.

Cow Punching

How to unlock: Capture the cult outpost in Kellet Cattle Co. Find the NPC that will give you this mission.

One of the people in the liberated outpost informs you about cows that have escaped from the farm. You have to bring them back. Go to the field with 3 cows. Stand east from them to "convince" the animals to move west or you can pat them. Firearms aren't recommended - you can kill one of the cows by accident.

Rewards for completing this mission: $750, 100 resistance points.

What They Carried

How to unlock: Speak with Wendell Redler in Redler Residence.

Redler Residence is located east from Fall's End in Holland Valley. Meet with Wendell Redler. You learn that he collects Vietnamese lighters. You can help him in collecting these items - the objective is to find 12 lighters. Lighters are one of the collectibles in Far Cry 5. Look for them in all locations with fast travel points in Holland Valley (including those that belong to your allies).

Rewards for completing this mission: $900, 200 resistance points.

Water Works

How to unlock: Capture the cult outpost in Sunrise Farm. Find the NPC that will give you this quest.

One of the people in the liberated outpost can give you a mission during which you have to repair the irrigation system. The first objective is to get 3 Irrigation Pieces.

1. The first part is being transported in a trailer attached to a vehicle. Stop it however you want to.
2. The second part is on one of the balconies on the farm.
3. The third part is attached to a working fan. Shoot at it - the part will land somewhere on the ground (the picture above).

Take these parts to the places marked by the game. Watch out for bears and other wild animals that can appear on the farm.

Rewards for completing this mission: $700, 100 resistance points.

Patriot Acts

How to unlock: Speak with Willis Huntley near Howard's Cabin.

Willis Huntley is the quest giver for this mission. You can find him near the vantage point next to Howard's Cabin. This location is near Rae-Rae's Pumpkin Farm, south-west from it (see the picture above).

Unlock the quest and get inside Willis' car. Wait until you reach Lincoln Lookout Tower. Secure this place - watch out for the sniper on the lookout tower's balcony. After that you have to meet with Williams inside of the tower.

This is the most difficult part of the mission. You have to follow an enemy helicopter. The game suggests you to use the Wingsuit but this requires the related perk. The quad, presented in the picture, is a better choice. Avoid hitting trees and try to stick to paths or roads. You can't drive too slow - the mission ends in a failure when the chopper gets too far from you.

The helicopter reaches Boyd Residence. Hide somewhere to remain undetected and wait for the mission to update. You have to follow the helicopter again - don't slow down and avoid collisions with trees and other obstacles.

Your destination is the cultists' hideout. Start attacking the enemies (try to detonate the red barrel in the right moment). Find the hatch that leads to the bunker - you can find it in the small building adjacent to the main one (see the picture). Go down into the bunker and find the VHS Tape. It lies on one of the shelves. There, you can also find one perk book (it adds 1 perk point). Go back to the surface and give the tape to Willis to complete this mission.

Rewards for completing this mission: a new skin for SMG-11, $860, 200 resistance points.
