How to get better weapons in Far Cry 5? Far Cry 5 Guide and Walkthrough
Last update: 03 April 2018
At the beginning of Far Cry 5 your character has only a pistol. However, you can get better weapons to make the missions easier. This page contains information on how to get better weapons in Far Cry 5.
The basic weapons
All the basic weapons can be found by exploring the world, securing cult outposts and by completing missions. They can lie in plain sight, inside of prepper stashes or they can be left by dead enemies. Try to get all the main types of weapons - a submachine gun, a shotgun, a crossbow, an assault rifle and a sniper rifle.
Rocket launchers, machine guns and flamethrowers may be more difficult to obtain. Usually, these weapons are used by armored cultists - you can come across them during certain missions or when you are attacking a cult outpost.
It is important to know that all weapons that were found and picked up by your character become yours forever. Even if you drop or lose a weapon, you can always go to one of the traders and add that gun to your inventory for free.
Unique weapons
Visit any of the arms dealers (the pistol icon on the world map) if you want to get better weapons. Don't spend your money on those models that have slightly better stats than guns that can be found in the world for free. Instead, you should focus only on the best weapons that can be found in the Featured tab (the picture above).
Sadly, each one of the featured weapons costs a lot. You have to collect a few thousands of dollars or spend a few hundreds of Silver Bars (remember to search for them in cult outposts). However, they are worth collecting money because these are the best weapons available in the game.
Weapon modifications and better ammo
Also, don't forget about:
- Attaching modifications to your favorite weapons - For example, scopes or increased ammo mags. These items can be bought from traders. A usual price for a single modification is several hundreds of dollars so don't try to unlock every single one of them. Choose only those that are necessary to you and attach them to only those weapons that you use regularly.
- Using better types of ammo - New types of ammo can only be bought after unlocking Black Market perk. Here, the game offers armor piercing or incendiary ammunition. Change your current ammo type by opening the weapons wheel, choosing your currently used weapon and then pressing the right button.
Getting Additional Holster and Weapons Collector perks is a good idea. These skills allow you to carry more main weapons (assault rifles, shotguns etc.). Thanks to them you won't have to take only one main weapon with you and use it throughout an entire mission.
