Side Quests in Henbane River Region Far Cry 5 Guide and Walkthrough

On this page you will find descriptions of the side tasks, quests, and missions that you can unlock in the Henbane River region in Far Cry 5. Some tasks are available immediately, and others may require, for example, an earlier takeover of a Cultists post or a meeting with an important NPC. You can find more details on this in the attached solution.

River Armed Convoy

This task will appear automatically after you have sufficiently weakened the Cultists in the Henbane River region (i.e. after you have advanced to 1 of the 3 levels of the weakening bar in the region). For this mission, you must attack and destroy a convoy of boats travelling around the area. You can view the current position of the convoy at any time (set the task to be active).

It is worth to prepare for the attack on the water convoy. You can use an armored aircraft or a boat equipped with a machine station to play the mission. In addition, you can help yourself with e.g. a grenade launcher or rocket launcher and "invite" some specialists to a mission like Nick Rye, who will be able to carry out the bombing. It is important to quickly destroy the boats, because at least one of them has a boathouse mounted on it.

Reward for completing this mission: 1500 dollars, 200 resistance points.

Descente Dans La Folie

How to unlock: Examine the location of stunt missions.

To unlock the quest visit Clutch Nixon, the location is shown in picture 1 - it's Prosperity, a town Southeast of Hope County jail. Locate the rack to be inspected. Interacting with it will unlock the stuntman trial.

During this trial, you must use a buggy to reach subsequent checkpoints within a time limit. If the counter reaches zero, the trial ends. Fortunately, every checkpoint buys you a few more precious seconds. But watch out in places similar to the one shown in the picture above, where you'll have to drive at a high speed on a steeply sloping rock wall. Only then will you be able to drive through the gate flawlessly. Also, be sure drive on every larger ramp correctly so you don't land the car on the roof or far from the optimal route.

Our Better Angels

How to unlock: You'll have to capture the cultist outpost at Nolan's Fly Shop. Then, find the NPC who'll give you the quest.

One of the people at the former outpost will tell you about the angels (people under the influence of Bliss) who are in the basement of the shop. Your task is to kill them. The entrance to the basement is located inside the building and shown in the picture above. There are 7 angels in the cellar. You can kill your opponents with any firearm or, for example, grenades.

Rewards for completing the mission: 800 dollars, 100 resistance points

Quiet on the Set

How to unlock: Talk to Guy Marvel.

Guy Marvel can be found on a film set in the abandoned mine (Grimalkin Radon Mine), as shown in the screenshot. The mine is located east of the Hope County jail.

The protagonist's task is to eliminate subsequent noisy objects that interfere with the production of the film. Talk to the assistant. The first noisy object is a damaged car with the horn on. Don't hurry to get to the car because there are cultists nearby and you'll have to get rid of all of them first. The easiest way to "silence" the car is to blow it up with grenade.

Return to Dean and head to the next designated location. There are cultists there and, as before, you'll have to eliminate them all.

Meet the assistant once again. The final part of the mission is somewhat more difficult. You must destroy speaker trucks driving around the area. It is advisable to blow them up quickly, because the presence of those machines lures in more "angels" (enemies under the influence of Bliss). Try to kill them as they come as well, as you will have to secure the whole area either way. Only after you have got rid of all the risks can you return to Guy Marvel.

Rewards for completing the mission: Unique costume (Omega), 850 dollars, 200 resistance points

Blood Dragon 3

How to unlock: Talk with Guy Marvel after you finish Quiet On The Set side quest.

You will find out about the opportunity to start this quest after Guy Marvel contacts you again on the radio, while crossing the Henbane River area. Just like before, you must visit Grimalkin Radon Mine. The world map doesn't show any sign of where the mission has started, but this isn't a problem. When you reach the site, go to the mine (check the screenshot) and talk to Guy Marvel.

You need to help Guy in preparing a compilation of action scenes. Get out of the mine, hit a meadow from the screenshot and notice "angels" (enemies under the influence of the Bliss drug). As soon as they start racing the hero, go back to the mine and search for the main room. You must kill the "angels" in the mine, but in certain ways. Options from 1 to 3 are available immediately, but options number 4 and 5 are available later:

1. Killing an Angel with the use of fire - Use a flame thrower or a Molotov cocktail.
2. Kill 3 Angels with headshots - Use a gun or rifle.
3. Killing an Angel with hand-to-hand combat - You can weaken the Angel earlier with attacks using firearms or help yourself with the drug The Fury, which significantly increases the power of attacks using white weapons.
4. Killing an Angel as a result of an explosion - Use, for example, grenades, dynamite or a launcher.
5. Death from Above - Creep into one of the upper rock shelves of a mine, jump towards the angel at the bottom and press the attack button to land on it and kill it.

If you kill all the angels too early during the challenge, visit the meadow once again and bring more enemies to the mine.

Rewards for completing this mission: 1400$, 200 resistance points.

The Judge Bear

How to unlock: You need to capture cultist outpost in King's Hot Springs hotel. Once the location is captured, locate the NPC who'll give you the quest.

One of the people at the captured outpost will tell you of an opportunity to go hunting for an extremely rare bear specimen. The judge bear's "home" is Lydia's Cave, located at the foot of the mountain and shown in the picture. When you enter the cave you'll find a lot of stockpiles and a shotgun, but the use of this particular weapon is purely optional.

The difficulty of this mission is that the cave is filled with the Bliss drug. This drug will cause hallucinations. Don't be surprised if the attacked bear disappears or if several specimens appear. Always look for a "copy" that will not disappear after the first attack. In addition, the judge bear's health bar is located in the upper left corner of the screen is another thing you should observe. If you have problems keeping the hero alive, take a good combat specialist, such as Hurk or Cheeseburg, on this mission. It is best to attack the judge bear with a heavy machine gun. The death of the animal will end the hunting quest.

Ragnar the Terrible

How to unlock: Capture the cultist outpost at Drubman Marina. Once the location is captured, locate the NPC who'll give you the quest.

One of the people at the former outpost will tell you about the opportunity to catch a unique species of fish. Take a boat to the small island to the west of the marina. Find a fishing rod once you're there. And don't forget to check if you have set the correct bait (Hybrid Sturgeon).

You will find tips for fishing in Far Cry 5 on the Fishing page in our guide. The specimen to be caught (Albino paddlefish) during this quest will be much more resistant to being caught, so be careful not to break your line. You should be able to catch the fish after just 2-3 attempts (the hero can also catch other species of fish before the "main dish").

Note: There is also a talent magazine to be found on the island where you complete this quest.

Whiskey River

How to unlock: Talk to Sherri Woodhouse in the Can of Worms fishing store.

The Can of Worms fishing store is located at the northern end of the Henbane River region, not far from the road leading to the Whitetail Mountains. Meet Sherri Woodhouse at this location to find out that she's interested in recovering her whiskey barrels. You can help her collect the collection, and the quest will require you to find a total of 15 McHelen whiskey barrels. The barrels are one of the collectible secrets in Far Cry 5, and are found in all locations on the Henbane River map (including those inhabited by allies) where you'll find fast travel points.

Rewards for completing the mission: 900 dollars, 200 resistance points.

Broken Path

How to unlock: Liberate Eden's Convent cult outpost. Find the NPC that will give you this mission.

One of the people in the liberated outpost tells you that the cultists are planning to counterattack this place. The objective is to defend this location. The game lets you prepare for the upcoming battle. The mission starts after reaching the table with ammo. You can notice the timer that informs you when the cultists will arrive.

Use any weapons you want (e.g. an assault rifle) or you can reach turret stations (see the picture 1) which offer a greater firepower. The attacks will come from north, west and south. Pay close attention to the snipers - they should be standing on top of the hill located south-west (the picture 2). Other enemies can climb on the same hill and slide down the ropes to quickly reach your location. Try to kill them before they finish sliding down. Defeat all the cultists to complete the mission.

Rewards for completing this mission: $850, 100 resistance points.

The Judge Bear

How to unlock: Liberate Sacred Skies Youth Camp cult outpost. Find the NPC that will give you this mission.

One of the NPCs informs you that you can hunt a very rare cougar. Its lair is located in the south part of the region near Dead Man's River. There, you can find supplies and weapons (using them is optional).

The problem here is that the glade's air is filled with Bliss vapor that will cause hallucination. Don't be surprised when the cougar disappears suddenly, changes into another animal (e.g. a turkey or a bison) or when you notice a few of its clones. Always look for the "copy" that doesn't disappear right after getting shot once. You should also keep an eye on the judge cougar's health bar displayed in the upper left corner of the screen. If you have problems with keeping your character alive, you can take a good specialist suited for close quarters combat, e.g. Hurk or Cheeseburger. The best way to attack this animal is to use a machine gun. Kill the judge cougar to complete this mission.

Old Glory Holes

How to unlock: Examine the stunts location.

Visit Clutch Nixon location presented in the picture 1 - you can find it near one of the main roads in the east part of Henbane Region. That place is near, e.g. Whistling Beaver Brewery (a cult outpost). Find the stand and examine it to unlock this stunt trial.

You have to fly a plane and complete the course before the time runs out. This is a difficult trial that requires a knowledge on Far Cry 5's flight system. Don't fly too slow because you will run out of time. Don't fly too fast either because it is easy to make a mistake and miss some of the checkpoints (fly towards other checkpoints if you still have time) or to crash into a tree or ground. The regular checkpoints require you to simply fly through them. The ones with a shield (see the picture 2) have to be shot with a turret first. Don't let the time run out. However, the time limit is partially replenished every time when you fly through a checkpoint.

Rewards for completing this mission: A new outfit (Overdrive), $750, 200 resistance points.

Refuel

How to unlock: Liberate Lorna's Truck Stop cult outpost. Find the NPC that will give you this mission.

One of the NPCs can order you to steal a tanker. Head north and reach Aubrey's Diner. There should be a few cultists in the area. Use stealth attacks to eliminate them - thanks to that the process of stealing the vehicle won't have additional complications. Drive the tanker to the truck stop and park in the right place. You shouldn't be attacked by anyone provided that you haven't raise the alarm.

Rewards for completing this mission: $775, 100 resistance points.

Fast

How to unlock: Speak with Aaron Kirby in Aubrey's Diner.

Aubrey's Diner is located in the west edge of Henbane River region (near the border with Holland Valley), close to Sacred Skies Lake and Lorna's Truck Stop. Aaron "Tweak" Kirby can give you two side quests. Complete them to get upgrades for your drugs (you will need less materials to craft them).

You have to bring him the following ingredients - Bliss Oil and Jimson Weed Plant. The oil can be easily acquired by searching crates or corpses of defeated enemies. Get Jimson Weed Plant by visiting the place that has just been marked on your map. It is also possible that you already have collected the required ingredients during your previous adventures.

Meet with Aaron in Prosperity town. Your new task is to complete an obstacle course:

1. Take the shotgun from the container. Complete the course marked with neon arrows. You have to climb on a few rooftops. Destroy 5 targets during this trial.
2. Take AR-C assault rifle from the container. Complete another course marked with neon arrows and destroy 4 targets (they are inside of closed buildings - shoot through windows). Some of the targets can move - shoot with longer bursts to hit them.
3. Take the baseball bat and hit 2 pigs.

Speak with Aaron and receive The Fast drug. Open the Utility Wheel and use this drug. You have to replay this trial but you now have 4 minutes to finish it - don't worry, this is a lot of time. You should spend about 20-30 seconds on destroying the targets with the shotgun and the assault rifle. Killing two pigs with a baseball bat can be more problematic but thanks to the drug the animals shouldn't run away from you.

Rewards for completing this mission: Furious side quest unlocked, The Fast drug upgrade unlocked (requires less ingredients to be produced), $800, 200 resistance points.

Furious

How to unlock: Complete Fast side quest.

This is the second side quest given by Aaron "Tweak" Kirby. You get it right after completing Fast side quest in Prosperity town.

Again, you have to bring Aaron a few ingredients - Bliss Oil and Mustard. If you don't have Mustard in your inventory then head to the place pointed by the game (west from the town - see the picture above) or find it yourself (you can come across it in the forests).

Speak with Aaron to receive The Furious drug. Take it immediately. A new trial awaits. Your task is to throw "angels" (enemies under the influence of Bliss) into fire pits. Reach the pit with angels near it, stand in the right spot so the pit is right behind an angel's back and kick him (choose fists from the Weapons Wheel). That enemy should fly backwards and fall into the pit (the picture above shows an example). You have to kick a total of 6 angels into the pit.

You now have to secure the area. The last objective is to talk with Aaron.

Rewards for completing this mission: The Furious drug upgrade (requires less ingredients to be produced), $1440, 200 resistance points

Godspeed

How to unlock: Examine the stunts location.

Visit Clutch Nixon location presented in the picture 1 - that place is located on the border between Whitetail Mountains and Henbane River, north-west from Drubman Marina. Find and examine the stand to start this stunt trial.

This trial requires Wingsuit perk (Renegade category). Reach the edge of the cliff, jump and quickly deploy the wingsuit. Reach the checkpoints (each one of them gives you a little of the time back) to complete the course. Don't worry if you miss one checkpoint but remember that you can do that only once. Also, you have to be careful in the parts where you have to fly between trees (the picture above shows an example of that). Hitting any of them means instant failure.

Rewards for completing this mission: $750, 200 resistance points.

False Idols

This task will automatically appear in the hero's diary after he has sufficiently weakened the cult influences in the Henbane River and has destroyed at least three Cult structures - shrines.

You will receive information about the possibility of destroying the property of worship in this region - the objects you are looking for are the Cult shrines. An example of the shrine is shown in the screenshot above - there are 16 of them in the Henbane River. You can find new shrines by exploring the game world or get to know their locations by maps or conversations with the NPCs. You can also refer to the Maps section in our guide where you can find markings that indicate their locations.

When you reach any of these structures, it is best to use a rocket launcher or place a remote explosive on the chapel. Each of destroyed shrines grants 100 points of resistance.

Rewards for completing this mission: 1600$, 200 resistance points.
