The messages in soulsborne games are a mechanic that any player can use for their purposes. Some will help other players by informing them about the threat or where to go, while others will troll players by telling them to jump into the abyss because there is an amazing item waiting for them there.
Remember not to believe all the messages you read . Of course, it is worth checking their truthfulness each time you don't risk losing life, for example hitting a wall, because it can be an illusory wall.
How to write messages?
In soulsborne games, you write messages mainly through a reusable item, usually a stylus or other item that you will often find at the beginning of the game, or it will be available from a merchant.
Using this item, you can choose the message format that suits you, and then, using the premade words, make your own, which will inform another player about something.
How to check the credibility of a message?
- Do not be influenced by the message rating system. It shows the total number of ratings for the message but does not divide them into positive and negative. Therefore, there may be times when a message with a score of 999 is the one you do not want to read and do what is written there.
- If the message tells you, for example, that there is an illusory wall behind another wall, or you have to jump down into the abyss, it is worth using stones that mark the way. When you throw such a stone against a wall, and it will fly through it, it means that there is an illusory wall.
It is similar if you throw a rainbow stone into the abyss. If it breaks, then your character will die from the fall. If it stays whole, you will survive.
- You can also just check the truth of the message yourself. In the case of illusory walls, hitting them will take you a maximum of a second. As for the jump, see if there's something distinctive down there to jump on.

In addition to the satisfaction of helping other players (or trolling them), for each rating another player gives you, you'll regain some of your health. In critical moments, this can turn out to be a very good method that will allow you to survive. Therefore, it is worth helping other players.
