- Ghostflame Dragon is not too different from the other dragons you have fought in the regions of the base game.
- You can use a mount during the fight - it will make the fight much easier, especially avoiding dragon breath attacks.
- The boss's weak point is the head, but you should also attack the body whenever you can.
- When the dragon stands still and fire begins to ooze from its body, run away as far as possible to avoid damage.
- Don't stay near the boss for too long - gallop all the time, approach at a safe moment, attack once or twice, and then move away to avoid a counterattack.
How to fight Ghostflame Dragon?
Despite its unsettling appearance, the Ghostflame Dragon is not much different from many other dragons you have encountered in previous regions of the game Elden Ring . The fight is based on the same assumptions - you will face the boss in the open world, not in a dungeon, and during the fight you can use your mount, Torrent.
Torrent is recommended and almost required for this fight. While the dragon's physical attacks can be blocked or dodged, its breath attacks are much more problematic because they cover a huge area, stay in the arena longer than your dodge animation, and ignore blocking. Your only salvation from them is a quick escape, which Torrent will allow you to do. While mounted, you can also easily avoid all of the boss's attacks by riding sideways, moving away, or double jumping. By double jumping, you can avoid, for example, an attack that hits the ground when the dragon flies into the air.
Keep moving during the fight. Gallop towards the dragon when it is not attacking, deal a few blows, then move away to avoid a counterattack. The boss's weak point is the head, and after hitting it a few times you can knock the dragon down, exposing it to a critical hit (you have to dismount). However, don't be afraid to attack the body as well - it is a much easier target and the damage dealt is also decent.
The boss's most dangerous attack is a fiery explosion that covers a large area around it. When the boss stands still, it will start roaring at the sky and fire will ooze from its body, so mount Torrent and get as far away as possible. Once the fire is gone, go back to attacking the boss.
