Scadutree Fragments are a key element of the new mechanic in Shadow of the Erdtree, allowing you to become stronger. There are many fragments that encourage players to explore the new game region, The Land of Shadow. This guide's page describes exactly how Scadutree Fragments and the Scadutree Blessing mechanic work.
How does the Shadow Realm Blessing work?
Scadutree Fragments are shards of Scadutree, a huge tree that grows in the Land of Shadow. They are scattered throughout the region, and you can find them by exploring various locations, dungeons, and optional areas. You can use the collected Scadutree Fragments at any site of grace via the Enhance Shadow Realm Blessing option. This blessing is a permanent buff that increases the damage you deal and reduces the damage you receive.
The buff is long-lasting and permanently reinforces your character - the buff won't be lost upon death or when leaving the DLC area. The only catch is that the blessing is only active inside the Land of Shadow - it has no effect in areas from the base game. This means that the expansion includes two independent progression systems - leveling with runes, known from the base game, and the Shadow Realm Blessing upgrade.
Scadutree Fragments encourage exploration and thorough examination of new locations. Using them is completely optional - if you want to make the game even more difficult, you don't have to use them. On a separate page of the guide, we have listed the locations of all Scadutree Fragments in the game.
