On this Diablo 2 Resurrected game guide page, you will get information on the best builds for the Amazon class.
Last update: 01 October 2021
On this guide page to Diablo 2 Resurrected, you will find popular character builds for an Amazon class. Amazon is class for inflicting damage in close or ranged combat or both.
Javazon (Poison / Lightning)
Javazone (Javelin Amazon) is a build to use javelins. Why not spears? Because some of the skills are activated only when throwing a javelin. Choosing skills, you create one of the subclasses - Lightning and Poison Javazone.
Lightning Javazon
Lightning Javazon - as the name suggests, it uses the power of lightning to attack.
- Skills: There are as many as 5 skills that you can use when choosing lightning, but the most common ones are Charged Strike and Lightning Fury. The key is to improve the skills for fighting with one and many enemies, as well as hand-to-hand combat and throwing.
- Attributes: do not add points to Energy (you will get enough with each level), Vitality - all other points because the Amazon has weak immunity. Strength and Dexterity - only for specific equipment: in the final stages of the game about 150 Strength and 100 points of dexterity (dexterity for javelins, strength mainly for the shield) - optionally add a few more points to improve the attack and shield block. You can initially invest a few points in Energy to make the game easier if you intend to reset them later.
- Mercenaries: best are Desert Mercenaries from Act 2, which will provide you with aura (preferably to regenerate mana). In addition, by providing them with a spear with a rune word Infinity, they will receive an aura that will reduce the element resistance of nearby enemies.
Posion Javazone (Plaguezon)
Poison Javazon - it's using skills Poisoned Javelin and Plague Javeline. You can distribute the remaining points as you like, keeping in mind passive skills (including Pierce) and possibly other active skills. Gameplay style: infect as many enemies as possible, then avoid them, allowing the poison to do the job. The equipment that increases the speed of movement will be useful here. Due to the gameplay style, this build isn't often used - it can also be quite problematic at higher difficulty levels, where it takes too long to poison work in combat, and enemies may be resistant to poison. If that's the case, the skill Jab will help you. A good mercenary will be Rogue, which will avoid enemies with you and slightly damage them or, as previously mentioned: Desert Mercenary with a weapon with a rune word Infinity.
It is worth putting many left points to improve damage and Valkyrie. It will help to get rid of poisoned enemies faster and will receive synergy bonus from the skills that strengthen the attack.
Thunderfury Amazon
Thunderfury Amazon, or Lightjab Amazon, build is more spears-oriented than javelins. It relies on items - that's why it's hard to play with this build in the early stages of the game. It uses the Jab skill to attack single enemies with quick strikes, increasing the attack speed of spears, which are slower than javelins (good if the weapon has an element bonus to attack). Lightning Fury is used for attack a group of opponents.
- Skills: Jab mentioned above and Lightning Fury are the base of this build. Unfortunately, Lightning Fury is a high-level skill, so it is difficult to base this build only on Jab and presumptively side skills needed to unlock fury. Dodge, Avoid, Evade are three additional skills that you will develop. Optionally, invest in Penetrate skill to increase "accuracy" - much depends on points invested in Dexterity.
- Attributes: Dexterity is a crucial attribute - it will increase your resistance and defense as you fight in close combat and allow you to high-level weapons. Strength - just enough to wear desirable pieces of armor. Energy - do not invest, the mana level will increase with levels. Vitality - use points on it, however significantly less than on dexterity (40-50 should be enough if you use equipment that increases health).
- Mercenaries: the best choice will be Desert Mercenaries with preferred aura, which will fill the gaps in your build at a given level (healing/defense/improve accuracy).
At higher levels, you might want to consider using synergies from side active skills: such as Charged Strike, which gives 10% to Lightning Fury.
Bowazone
Bowazone (Bow Amazon) is a generic name for builds based on bows and crossbows. The ranged weapon type of gameplay is characterized by a very high speed of attacks. You can use both area and single-target attacks. You have to move rapidly, avoid threats and ambushes, and learn how to aim skilfully - you can shoot with Shift in the desired direction, predicting the target's movement. Common features:
- Attributes: Strength - only to the level required by the armors; Dexterity - high, 100, and up.; Health - almost equal to or more than Dexterity; Energy - a few points, but not more than 50.
- Mercenaries: in this case, much depends on the game style and the items/runes. Almost every available mercenary will be alright. Since you will usually fight quite far from your allies, do not depend heavily on their buffs. It is worth choosing a mercenary that can take much damage and can divert attention from the Amazon. Properly playing the heroine with a bow also allows you to play without mercenaries.
When it comes to skills, it is worth choosing one to fight a large number of enemies. Both of the following abilities fire multiple arrows with a single attack (instead of one per attack), and each of the projectiles has the stats of a normal attack and its bonuses.
- Multiple Shot - fires a maximum of 10 arrows, initially having attack power reduced by 1/4, but each level increases the weapon attack bonus,
- Strafe - fires more arrows at once than Serial Shot (up to 24), but the attack power is reduced by 1/4.
Skills to fight with single enemies:
- Magic arrow - it doesn't use arrows from the quiver. Greatly increases attack power - it is very important when fighting enemies with resistances, especially at higher difficulty levels.
- Guided Arrow - it follows the target, but it has smaller bonus damage than Magic Arrow.
- Exploding/Immolation Arrow - at higher levels, it has problems with opponents with fire resistance. Both skills are good, with the former allowing for faster attacks. The Immolation Arrow can fire 1 shot per second - more useful when using a slower crossbow.
- Freezing Arrow - the only reasonable arrow option with a cold effect. It deals less damage than fire, but it also freezes weaker enemies and slows down stronger ones. At higher difficulty levels, it performs poorly (enemies' resistance and reduced freeze/slow time).
Key passive and additional skills to develope:
- Pierce - one of the most important skills - the arrows penetrate through the enemy and flies further, keeping its stats.
- Critical Strike - very important because the bow user prefers to get rid of enemies quickly rather than avoid their attacks (which is sometimes inevitable).
- Valkyrie or Decoy- they're good for distracting the enemy.
It's worth investing in a point or two into Dodge and Avoid. In turn, Penetrate will increase your accuracy.
Fendazone
Fendazone, as the name implies, is based mainly on skills Fend. It's a rather unusual build, allows you to use spears or javelins depending on the preferences or weapons found. It's better suited for fighting large groups than strong, single enemies -nevertheless, it's worth mentioning.
- Skills: you develop to the maximum level Fend and Decoy skills. Then: Critical Strike and Penetrate. It's worth investing least one point in Dodge, Evade, Avoid.
- Attributes: as before, Energy - skip, Strength and Dexterity - to the level required by the equipment. It's key to develop Vitality.
- Mercenaries: Desert Mercenary with Aura: Might (Rune word: Last wish)- increases attack power or Holy Freeze (Rune words Doom/Ice) - slows and slightly wounds nearby enemies.
- Strategy: because this is an unusual build, it is played in a particular way. Use Fend or a mercenary/valkyrie to lure enemies when and attack them using Fend. To fight bosses, when there are no other opponents around, use Fend indsteed of Jab. Equip yourself with equipment to steal health/mana, as each Fend attack will have a theft effect.
