Successor of the Ribcage | Boss in Code Vein Code Vein guide, walkthrough
Last update: 07 October 2019
On this page of the guide to Code Vein, you will learn how to defeat the Successor of the Ribcage, the boss of the region Area F-15.
Location: Area F - 15, Crypt of the Ribcage
Rewards: 22,400 Haze, Isis Vestige IV and Isis Blood Code (if you chose to Restore Memory in Aurora's memories) or Queen's Ribcage Blood Code (if you didn't, and just left the door without choosing Restore Memory), the ability to unlock the "winged doors"
Successor of the Ribcage is a boss that looks like a huge wolf. This boss remains in one place almost throughout the entire fight -it only hovers in the air and attacks with various elements like fire or lightning. When you get close to it, the boss can start to meditate. After that, the area around the Successor of the Ribcage will explode and the boss will teleport to the opposite end of the arena.
It is worth noting that the boss has a second phase, but it starts when you defeat the boss and reduce its health bar to zero. The second phase begins when you defeat the boss for the first time.
To damage this boss, you have to keep following it to deal damage. Fighting from a distance is a good idea, however, it is much harder because the boss will be able to use all of its attacks. One of them is an electric laser that moves from one side to another. Roll at the right time and nothing will happen to you. If you have problems with dodging, hide behind one of the columns - in most cases, you will avoid all of the boss's attacks.
Pay attention to its hands - this will help you determine the next attack. If the boss connects hands in a gesture resembling a prayer, then it will either shoot the laser or cause 3 electric explosions right beneath you. When it uses two hands, it will mostly attack you with fire and ice. The boss also has an attack that deals blood damage which causes an explosion in the place where you are currently standing.
This boss can also create electric orbs that slowly follow the player. It is therefore important to throw the enemy off the balance as fast as possible to deal it large amount of damage in a short time. The boss has a lot of attacks, but it isn't that durable.
Watch out for the attack when the Successor performs a prayer gesture with all its hands and is surrounded by lights. Move away from the attack's radius (the lights) and run to the other end of the arena. That is where the boss will appear after the teleportation and explosion.
Phase 2 of the fight starts after you defeat the boss for the first time. From now on, even when you die during the battle, you will only fight the second version of the boss. The Successor of the Ribcage gains improved versions of its previous attacks. For example, after teleporting, it surrounds itself with a red barrier that stops some of the damage - destroy it by attacking it in fast succession.
The boss also gets new attacks, such as orange orbs presented in the picture that move in a specific direction. The strategy is very similar to in the first phase, although harder to implement. Get behind the boss as fast as you can and then attack it with everything you have. Watch out for a few of its attacks (like lightning explosions or electric orbs). It is also important to know when the boss is about to perform teleportation. When you notice that the boss wants to use this attack, run to the other end of the arena and start attacking it as quickly as possible.
After defeating the boss, you unlock Crypt of the Ribcage Mistle, the ability to open the "winged doors" and you can meet Karen located behind the locked door.
