Gilded Hunter | Boss in Code Vein Code Vein guide, walkthrough
Last update: 14 October 2019
Gilded Hunter is the boss of the E-16 region, that uses an axe and blood attacks. While the first phase is not too demanding, the second phase is a real test of patience and concentration, because it's really hard to deal damage to the boss. Before the fight it is worth to equip Blood Veil, which provides good protection against attacks from blood. Quick dodges may also be helpful, so it would be a good idea to wear some lightweight armor and weapons.
Location: Area E-16, Putrid Surge Tank
Rewards: 65 660 Haze, Blood Code Dark Knight, Putrid Surge Tank Mistle
Gilded Hunter has many attacks at his disposal, and those from blood are being marked with a red glow on his hand or weapon. When the glow appears on his hand, the enemy will make explosion around himself - quickly step back when you notice this action. However, when you see this glow of light on his weapon, then his melee attacks turn into distance attacks, so you either have to move away from them (in order to dodge them) or stick close to his back. Be careful, as these attacks can hit even there. Gilded Hunter can make a charge, but he takes some time to aim at you. His first attempt of a charge is just a cover-up of the attack, followed by a second, quick push in the player's direction.
The second phase is activated when the boss stands still and surrounds himself with a red aura. During the 90% of time in this phase you're forced to defend yourself. The time to attack the boss is very limited and it's even hard to approach him. His attacks are very dangerous. They mainly consists of a combo. The most dangerous are two attacks, which have a large range, because the blood on the weapon increases the area of effect. Then, he often makes a jump with additional attack - such strike can even be concluded with explosion of blood. When the enemy explodes during the first phase, he often immediately attacks just after the blood explosion. It's not hard to avoid his attacks when you see what kind of strike he's going to perform. The problem is that he may deal an attack while the stones are still falling down during the explosion, which limit visibility.
However, after 30-40 seconds, Gilded Hunter loses strength and abilities from the second phase. This is the perfect time to start a counterattack. Approach him when you see him fall to his knees and attack him as long as you can. This is also a great opportunity to heal yourself, because during the second phase it's very difficult to heal. Usually, an attack may occur if you try to treat your wounds. The only time you can do that is during the blood explosion.
When the boss gets up from his knees, for several dozen seconds the battle will look exactly the same as in the first phase. After these several dozen seconds the boss will activate his second phase again. Once more you have to defend yourself.
