Oliver Collins | Boss in Code Vein Code Vein guide, walkthrough
Last update: 01 October 2019
Reward: Juggernaut Hammer, Berserker Vestige Core
Location: Area D-12, Outer Crossroads
Oliver Collins is the first tutorial boss. Even though this boss's purpose is to teach you the combat mechanics, you should take him seriously - lose your focus for a brief moment and you are dead.
In phase one, Oliver Collins will attack you with a hammer. His attacks are highly telegraphed and slow. They also lack range. However, his swings can deal you massive damage. He usually attacks with single swings. However, the boss also has an attack that can hit you even when you are standing behind his back. The general tactic for this phase is to stay close to him and avoid his attacks. You can safely attack him multiple times in-between his attacks.
When his health drops to 60%, you will start the second phase. Oliver will turn into The Lost. When he starts his transformation, a vortex will appear around him. Don't stand there - you will get pushed back and receive a lot of damage. The battle becomes more difficult - his attacks have more range. He also gets access to new moves. Watch out for his blood explosion. When you are near him, he can sometimes use an attack that deals a lot of damage and knocks you back. He signals this move by raising his palms up. The hand will also glow red. When you see him doing that, back off immediately. Also, keep an eye on his series of attacks, he usually performs 2-3 attacks. Lost Bayonet is useful here - especially this weapon's strong attack. It shoots 5 bullets in a horizontal line. Since Collin's second form is larger, all the shots will hit him.
