This page of the guide to Borderlands 3 has a walkthrough for The Impending Storm, one of the main missions. During this quest, you will visit a new planet - Athenas. You will meet there with Maya and Ava. The planet is full of enemies, including Captain Traunt, a boss protecting access to one of the vaults.

You must return to the Sanctuary spaceship. Go to the maps tab, select Sanctuary and choose the fast travel point located at the rear of the ship.

Go to the captain's bridge to meet with Lilith. Listen to the conversation with Maya and then use the navigation computer to travel to Athenas. Go down to the lowest deck, and use the Drop Pod to reach the surface of the planet.

Start moving to the place where Maya should be. Watch out, you will encounter a few enemies on your way. Pay extra attention to the NOG enemies. They have a force field created by drones flying above their heads. Destroy these small drones to have easier time killing the enemies.

Reach the bell and hit it - this triggers a cut-scene during which you will meet with Maya. Follow her to Windward Plaza.

Reach the destination and prepare yourself for more fights. They're pretty intense, but Maya will thankfully offer her support. Your objective is to get to the next bell. Hit it - the monks will unlock the passage.

Soon, you will encounter another large group of enemies. You will fight with the same type of enemies. However, don't underestimate them and run away if you find yourself in danger. Get to the last bell and open the passage. Maya will stop accompanying you.

Get to the cemetery marked on the map - you will meet Ava. Talk to her and then enter Dido's Remorse. You must accompany the girl in exploring the crypts. Unfortunately, new enemies will attack you. There are four containers in the first crypt - examine them. However, you won't find eridium in any of them.

Leave the crypt and prepare yourself to face a large group of enemies. Get to the second crypt. Inside, you have to kill 2 weak Ratch monsters. Leave the mausoleum and win another battle. The priority is to kill the Ratch Nest monster. It's not a tough opponent, but it's pretty resistant. Also, pay attention to Badass Ratch which may appear in the area. Ratch Nest will drop a Burial of Eridium - take it.

Go with Ava to another part of the map. Soon, you will reach The Anchorhold. Go to the nearby yard to meet with Maya. As always, you will encounter a few enemies.

Stop when you reach the hole presented in the picture above. Before you jump into it, collect ammunition and health from the nearby chests and corpses of defeated opponents. Unfortunately, there are no shops in the area. Soon, will face another boss.

You have to defeat Captain Traunt, one of the bosses. The boss resembles the enemies wearing heavy armor, which you have probably encountered in the previous battles. You can use the same tactic of jumping and then using a ground pound. Try to quickly move away from the places where Captain Traunt intends to land to avoid unnecessary (and high) damage.

The boss' attacks are based on two elements - fire and ice. In both cases, the boss has several different skills. They can be divided into two main groups.

The first group is stationary traps and obstacles. They can take the form of, for example, ice barricades (watch out - they can explode towards you) or lava pools. Remember about these obstacles while you are shooting at the boss.

The second group - various kinds of projectiles. They can fly in a straight line or be a homing missile. Unfortunately, the latter are more difficult to avoid. Try to alternately run and hide behind all sorts of obstacles to reduce the risk of getting hit by a homing projectile.

On the outskirts of the arena, there are walkers and long corridors that you can use to avoid boss attacks. There, you will find enemy soldiers. Remember to avoid killing mobs unless they threaten you directly. They can "help" you in reviving your character (Second Wind) if you get knocked down.

Remember to collect loot after defeating Captain Traunt - you get credits, eridium and new equipment. Maya is also in the arena but she won't join you.

Give Maya the eridium found at the cemetery and then jump together into the large vault. Take the Key Vault Fragment from the pedestal. You can also open several containers with valuable loot. Use the fast travel option to get back to the Sanctuary. Once you are on board the spaceship, give Tannis the artifact. Then, talk to Lilith. The quest is completed. You also unlock a new main quest - Space-Laser Tag.
