Is it possible to permanently lose COV weapon in Borderlands 3? Borderlands 3 guide, walkthrough
Last update: 16 September 2019
On this page of our guide to Borderlands 3, we answer the question whether COV weapon can be destroyed and permanently lost. The reason for asking such a question is the fact that the unique feature of these weapons is the possibility of overheating.
COV is the short for "Children of the Vault". This is a new weapon manufacturer, debuting in the Borderlands 3 game. COV weapons can be found from initial hours of the game. All firearms of this manufacturer have two common characteristics:
- Unlimited magazine - COV Weapons don't need to be reloaded. All of the ammunition is consumed.
- Possibility of overheating - this will happen if you will keep on firing for too long.
While firing the COV weapon, the weapon temperature indicator in the lower right corner of the screen gradually fills up. The weapon can be cooled by stopping further fire for a while.
Fortunately, you will not lose your COV weapon if it is overheated, i.e. if the entire temperature bar fills up. When the weapon overheats, an animation of it cooling down or getting repaired will automatically appear.
In the description of each COV weapon you can find two useful pieces of information:
- Repair Time - is the amount of time it takes to fix/cool a COV weapon after you cause it to overheat.
- Shots to Break - is the information about how many shells in a series should be fired to cause the weapon to overheat. It is best to shoot in shorter bursts and allow the cooling process to initiate.
