Lavender Crawly | Opponent in Borderlands 3 Borderlands 3 guide, walkthrough
Last update: 16 September 2019
This page of our guide to Borderlands 3 contains a description of the duel with the optional Lavender Crawly boss. This is the first of the powerful creatures to hunt down on behalf of Sir Hammerlock. Winning this fight can be quite difficult, especially for characters at too low experience level.
The lair of the Lavender Crawly boss is located in the region of The Droughts. You can only get there on foot as the narrows and blockades make it impossible to use a vehicle. This fight is one of the Hammerlock's Legendary Hunts, that is, Crew Challenges.
Sir Hammerlock will contact the hero after you arrive at the lair of the monster. Lavender Crawly is a level 8 monster, but once you start the duel, more monsters from levels 9 and 10 will appear on the battlefield. We do not recommend to start the encounter with a too weak character ( below level 6), because you can have great difficulty to emerge victorious from the bout. Instead, do side quests from, for instance, The Droughts, to level up your character sufficiently.
Lavender Crawly is able to move smoothly through the "arena", as well as deal elemental damage. If possible, keep a safe distance from the boss. Additionally, move sideways quickly when the boss is trying to perform a charge-like attack.
To weaken the boss you should use weapons allowing you to destroy the foe's armor quicker. "Conventional" weapons can also be effective, but then the fight will simply be longer.
Right before you can kill the boss, he will hide in a kind of cocoon. This is not the first or last time something like this will happen in the course of this fight. New mini-bosses will appear in the area, such as Kira Crawly, Edie Crawly, Bobby Crawly, Martha Crawly, Cybil Crawly and Matty Crawly.
Each of the new monsters is smaller than Lavender Crowley, but they are at higher experience levels - ninth and tenth. Do not underestimate them because their attacks can do more damage.
Try to focus your attacks on a single mini-boss. They have shorter and "normal" red health bars, which is why they should die faster.
You will win the battle after you defeat all the mini-bosses that managed to get out of the cocoon. Try to get to all of the corpses of defeated monsters. In each of these places you will find a lot of loot - rarer weapons, cash and Eridium.
