At the end of Return 6 in Alan Wake 2, Saga Anderson will receive the mission objective: Come up with a New Plan. In the guide, we explain how to complete this task, i.e. how to properly examine the cell at the Bright Falls police station and how to add clues from the plan to save Wake to the case board.

Starting the main task Come Up With a New Plan
- You will receive this main quest at the end of Return 6, before the beginning of Return 7. You must first defeat Scratch in the police parking lot - we have described this battle on a separate page of our guide.
- You will receive 2 mission objectives by talking to Estevez and Casey in Sheriff Tim Breaker's office. In each conversation, try to use all dialogue options. Estevez will give you the Prison Cell Key.
Goal: Examine the files in the locked cell
- With the obtained key, reach the locked cell at the police station, which was inaccessible before the fight with Scratch.
- After entering the cell, examine the documents in two spots to unlock all possible clues.
- Open the Case Board and go to the Wake and the Clicker tab.
- Choose all the new evidence from the list below. They should go into the Clicker, Clicker still useful and How to save Wake? categories on the investigation tree.
- If the mission goal hasn't updated, then additionally select Profiling and click on the portraits highlighted in yellow. The most important profile is Tor, but you can also check out new topics for Wake, Casey, and Scratch.
- You should get the mission objective from asking Estevez about the Clicker. Ask the FBC agent about this item.
- Bring up the case board and the main case Wake and the Clicker again. Add a new lead to the board obtained through the conversation with Estevez.
- In the Profiling window, select Tor and the newly available topic Rescuing Wake (the image above). Saga concludes that she can use the Clicker without Wake's involvement.
- Call up the case board once again and add a clue from Tor profiling. Saga should conclude that she will use the Clicker to change reality and bring Wake back (the image above).
Goal: Share the plan with Casey and Estevez
- The main mission objective should now update with Clicker still useful and How to rescue Wake? should have a green color on the tree (these clues have been completed).
- You can go to Estevez and present her the plan of action. This action initiates the so-called point of no return for Saga's story. We described its meaning on a separate FAQ page, titled Is there a point of no return?.
