Outriders: Yagak 1st boss fight - how to defeat? Outriders guide, walkthrough
Last update: 16 April 2021
This section of the guide to Outriders contains a walkthrough of the first boss fight with Yagak. You will learn when the first confrontation with Yagak happens, what attacks the boss can perform and how to avoid them, as well as how to defeat him effectively and quickly.
The first duel with Yagak takes place during a stage of a story mission called Save your crew. Yagak is the sixth more dangerous enemy you will face in Outriders.
Boss abilities
Yagak is an extremely strong and mobile enemy who uses a sizable sword to fight, but is also able to use the power of Anomalies. Below, you can read about the skills to watch out for when fighting this opponent.
Chain Combo
Despite his enormous size, Yagak is an extremely skilled fighter who can perform quick jumping attacks, and his sword has a really long reach. To avoid taking damage, stay out of your enemy's reach or dodge his attacks by jumping back or sideways.
Lightning Strikes
One of Yagak's unique abilities are Lightning Strikes - the boss gathers the power of Anomaly and marks the ground under his opponent several times, which he then hits with lightning bolts. Such a hit will deal a lot of damage, give the Weakness status and knock you to the ground.
Displacement
Displacement is Yagak's another unique ability that makes him even more mobile. The opponent casts a quick spell that turns him into a beam of Anomaly and allows him to move to a different part of the arena very quickly.
Overload
The next special ability at Yagak's disposal is Overload - the boss shields himself with a blue barrier that ricochets incoming bullets towards the protagonist. As soon as Yagak uses this ability, stop attacking to avoid taking extra damage.
You must be especially careful if you're using Toxic or Bleed bullets, to avoid receiving a negative effect.
Tactics
Right after the fight starts, Yagak will make a quick jump and attack from above, so be prepared to dodge or hide behind one of the stone pillars - when the enemy hits the obstacle, the attack will be canceled.
Unfortunately, this is not the end of Yagak's maniac attacks, as he will constantly try to reduce the distance between you by performing a Chain Combo - to dodge that, jump sideways or backwards.
When Yagak uses the Overload shield, stop your attack as the boss will deflect all bullets towards you. This is especially important if you're using Toxic or Bleed bullets, to avoid receiving a negative status that will deplete your character's health.
When Yagak summons his allies, the first thing you should do is focus on the weaker targets, which can hurt you quite badly (especially at higher World Tiers) and can also disrupt your boss fight.
Avoid danger areas - when the enemy uses his skills, don't stay in one place for too long, and try to keep the enemy at a distance so he can't hurt you with his sword. Take care of your character's health, when shooting try to aim for the head to deal the highest damage possible, and you should be able to defeat this boss in no time.
