Outriders: Status effects Outriders guide, walkthrough

Last update: 22 April 2021

In this section of the Outriders guide, you will learn a little more about status effects. This will help you know what is most valuable to use and what can be used against stronger opponents.

Status effects

There are up to 8 status effects in Outriders:

  1. ash,
  2. bleed,
  3. burn,
  4. vulnerable,
  5. freeze,
  6. toxic,
  7. weakness, and
  8. slow.

Ash and Burn are crowd control effects - they stop enemies and their attacks for 2.5 and 3.5 seconds. The effect decreases when you shoot such statuses at your opponent all the time. They can induce status resistance in tougher opponents.

Bleed, burn, and poison are effects that deal damage over time. The most powerful is the burn effect, which deals damage equal to 3.7% of your ability power. For bleeding it is 2.5%, for poisoning, it is 3.5%. Effects that deal damage over time last 6 seconds and the same effect does not stack.

Vulnerability to injury and weakness affect the damage enemies receive and deal. Vulnerability increases damage taken by 25% for 10 seconds, while weakness reduces damage taken by 30%.

Slow reduces attack and movement speed from 30% to as much as 75% depending on how resistant the opponent is to this status.

The best effects you can apply to your opponents are crowd control effects, arson, and vulnerability to injury. In general, any effect is useful - experiment with different weapons and effects so you can pick what suits your play style best.

Status Immunity

Elite opponents have the Status Immunity skill. This more or less means that during this immunity you will not be able to interrupt their attacks. The opponent is then immune to everything, including crowd control statuses (ash and freeze).

In the image above, there is a symbol above the enemy, which means that the enemy will slowly build up status resistance if you keep firing at them - the symbol will then start to turn blue.

A blue aura means that the opponent is completely immune to statuses.

Once the opponent has built up resistance, they will have a blue aura around them. In this state, no effects work on the opponent. After a short time, the effect disappears and you'll be able to damage them again.

Resistance Piercing

Resistance Piercing is the percentage of the Status Resistance that will be ignored and deal damage. For example, when an elite enemy turns their Status Resistance on, you can still deal them damage thanks to Resistance Piercing.

Resistance Piercing is very similar to armor piercing, except that this piercing is rarely related to the weapon you are using and it affects all non-physical attacks (i. e., skill attacks). Since Resistance Piercing goes hand in hand with Anomaly Power, you should consider increasing this statistic.

This type of piercing is easiest to achieve through the skill trees of each class. There are currently 2 weapon mods in the game that affect Resistance Piercing:
