Fallout 4: Factions and smaller groups Fallout 4 Guide
Last update: 16 April 2024
There are many groups present in Fallout 4, each with their own objectives and attitude to the surrounding world (including the main character). In most cases, the members of a group (for example, Gunners, Child of Atom) do not create one, large whole. It means that by killing or helping them you don't change your relations with the whole group. The only exceptions of this rule are four large factions available in the game:
- Minutemen
- Brotherhood of Steel
- Railroad
- Institute
In their case you must watch yourself, as decisions you make can have positive or negative impact on your relations with the whole faction. The basic principles are rather obvious - by helping members of a faction, you improve your relations with it, and by killing its members you are getting closer to becoming an enemy for it. However, the mechanism is much more advanced, as objectives of various factions might be conflicting or they can be unfriendly towards each other since the beginning of the game. By helping faction A, you can automatically become enemy of faction B. A thorough description of all factions can be found in our game walkthrough guide. There you will find information about how to join specific factions and what actions can make it impossible for you to cooperate with specific groups.
