Night of the soul chapter focuses on Markus and Connor - Kara will return in Battle for Detroit. This chapter is a short summary of your heroes' achievements. It also has optional endings for some of the subplots.

Markus in Carl's house

The beginning of the Night of the soul chapter depends on Markus' decision in the Broken chapter. If Carl is dead (Markus didn't push Leo) then you will see a short cut-scene where Markus goes to a cemetery. This chapter is much longer if Carl is alive.

Enter the apartment. In the room you can take a look at the item you have used in The Painter chapter as an activity to wait for Carl to finish his dinner:

1. Books on the shelve,
2. Chess,
3. Piano,
4. You can also listen to Leo's recording,
5. You can look at the picture that you have painted during The Painter chapter.

Go upstairs to Carl's room. Avoid the nurse and speak with Carl. Choosing aggressive dialog options twice leads to Carl's death.

Endings - Markus

The scenes in Markus' chapter depend on whether he is alive or not, and whether an attack on Jericho has been carried out (Connor's investigation is important here).

The rest of Markus' chapter consists of a few cut-scenes (with one exception) that show you the results of your previous choices - what is the situation in Jericho and is Markus alive or not.

1. North becomes the leader if Markus has died or has left the camp (has been exiled) during the Crossroads chapter.
2. The cut-scene depends on whether the ship has been attacked or not (depends on whether Connor has learned about the location of Jericho or not during Last chance, Connor chapter).
3. If Connor didn't locate Jericho (as above) and Markus is among the androids from Jericho then you will be able to decide whether you want a peaceful protest or an aggressive revolution.

If Connor and Markus have survived to that point and Connor has found Jericho, you will find yourself in the church with your companions who have survived up to that point. You should speak with them before starting the attack / protest. These characters are:

1. North (additional dialog line if you have reached a high friendship level),
2. Kara - if she survived and wasn't arrested during the Crossroads chapter.
3. Simon,
4. Josh,
5. Connor - if he became a deviant and survived. You can lead to his death by not showing your trust (this doesn't end Connor's storyline).

Other variants also allow you to decide whether you want a peaceful protest or a bloody revolution (provided that you have finished the chapter as Markus).

Connor - when he remained a machine

If you watch Connor's scene in Hank's house, nothing will save him from committing suicide.

Connor remained a machine and had good relations with Hank - you will only see a short cut-scene where Connor talks with Amanda.

Connor remained a machine and had hostile relations with Hank - you will also watch an additional cut-scene from Hank's house (when the detective has quit his job during Last chance, Connor chapter). There are two dialog paths that depend on whether Connor died during the game (more than once) or not. Regardless of that, this plot can only end in one way - with Hank's death.

Connor - when he became a deviant

This scene is available if Connor has joined North during the Crossroads chapter (Markus is dead). You can speak with North, Kara, Josh and Simon (provided they all have survived the previous chapter). After that North will call everyone to attack which ends this chapter.
