As you explore the world in Dead Island 2, you may encounter Fuseboxes blocking access to secret rooms. This page of the guide shows where to get Fuses, how to use them, and what can be gained from unlocking optional locations.
Buying fuses
Fuses are one of the types of Consumables, which means that once spent, they are irretrievably lost.
The only way of getting more is to buy them from Traders, and the first opportunity to do so appears with the unlocking of Carlos, a Trader from Emma's residence in Bel-Air (every Trader is marked with the dollar icon on the map)
Note - there is no guarantee that Fuses will always be on stock. If they are not on the list of items, go to a different Trader or return to the same one later in the game.
Each Fuse costs $1,500. It may seem like a lot at the beginning, but thanks to them you can reach locations that often contain valuable items (new weapons, rare crafting materials, and more).
Your hero can only carry a limited number of Fuses - replenish the supply often and you won't have to backtrack for each secret location.
Using Fuses
As you explore the area, Fuseboxes are marked on your map automatically. These are the locations where you can spend your Fuses.
Placing the Fuse in the box unlocks a secret room. Finding a large chest with random weapons there is guaranteed. Moreover, there is a big chance that the room will contain, among others, crafting ingredients.
Note - the secret rooms are sometimes trapped. Try to disarm or avoid them and don't rush straight to the reward chest.
