As you go through Dead Island 2, you may wish to modify your character's appearance and clothing (Character Customization). This guide page explains whether the game allows you to change your character's face and outfit, and whether there are other ways to make your Slayer unique.
Character Customization - appearance and clothing
You won't find a character creator in Dead Island 2. You have to choose 1 out of 6 pre-made heroes - their summary is on the List of characters page.
Each Slayer has a specific appearance and cannot be changed. You can't:
- change the hairstyle or other details of the character's face;
- modify the character's stature and other body parts.
By default, Dead Island 2 does not allow you to choose a different outfit for the protagonist, and there are no clothes as loot either. The exceptions to this rule are the Character Pack 1 and 2, which are included in the Deluxe and Gold editions of the game:
- Character Pack 1 includes an alternative Silver Star outfit for Jacob;
- Character Pack 2 includes an alternative Cyber Slayer outfit for Amy.
The other 4 heroes don't have alternate skins. However, it doesn't mean that they won't receive any with future updates.
Changing the hero's skills
The starting stats of each hero are predetermined. For example, you won't find an option to distribute skill points among different statistics. It also means that you should choose a character based on its statistics. Some of the Slayers are tough tanks, while others are very agile yet vulnerable to zombie attacks.
In Dead Island 2, you can modify your chosen character by placing skill cards in active slots. Cards can change the character's stats or add new active or passive abilities. We have listed our recommended cards on the Best skills page.
