Valheim: Buried Treasure - how to find it? Valheim guide, walkthrough
Last update: 19 February 2021
On this page of the Valheim guide, you will learn how to locate a Buried Treasure, as well as how to dig it out.
There are at least a few treasure chests buried throughout the vast map of Valheim. Each of them can hide valuable items and resources – silver necklaces (worth about 30 coins), coins, fire arrows, ruby, amber, and amber pearls. It is important to note here that you will need the right tool to dig up the treasure - the Antler Pickaxe.
For information on how to unlock and create an Antler Pickaxe, see the separate FAQ page of this guide.
How to search for treasures?
Some of the treasures in the world of Valhem are buried in very distinctive locations marked by stones that have been arranged to form the shape of a ship. The image above shows an example.
Another way to find a buried treasure is to use the Wishbone. When you equip this item, it starts to make a distinctive sound and emit a green light when you are near buried chests or metal deposits. The beeping and lighting effects intensify as you approach the right spot - start digging there to find something valuable.
How to dig up treasure?
Equip your character with a pickaxe (Antler Pickaxe or a similar item) and start digging - it's best to start at one end and keep moving forward until you come across a treasure chest. The treasure chest cannot be damaged – you can dig without any worries.
Once you have found the treasure, you may try to dig through the entire area marked with stones. This requires some effort and will use up a good portion of the pickaxe's durability, but you can find additional materials in the ground like stones or bones.
