Last update: 25 March 2021
This page of the Valheim guide provides tips related to the Moder boss fight. This walkthrough provides information on how to defeat this boss.
Moder is a huge dragon that lives in the Mountains. It can fly and attack with ice projectiles. At the same time, it is the most error-prone boss that exists in the game.
Summoning
While exploring the Mountain biome, you can find a runestone that indicates the location of the boss. You can find these objects by exploring the ruins of buildings located in this biome. When you interact with it, a marker will be highlighted on the map, showing the nearest summoning altar.
When you arrive at your destination, all that's left is to make a sacrifice. In this case, there are three dragon eggs. This object is extremely heavy and cannot be teleported. That's why it is best to look for them near the boss altar.
Combat
Silver armor and a wolf cape are highly recommended for this fight. Also, don't forget to rest and eat before the fight to accumulate as many health points as possible.
Moder has two combat modes that intertwine with each other. The first involves her flying over the battlefield. She will summon ice pillars that will explode after a while. If you find yourself within the range of the explosion, then not only will you take damage, but also your movements will be slowed down. The optimal strategy at this point is to stay at a distance and shoot her with a bow. Moder is vulnerable to poison damage, so it's best to equip the right type of arrows.
The second mode involves Moder fighting on the ground. At this point, she will bite and breathe ice. In this phase, you can use two tactics - continue shooting with your bow or start attacking with a blunt weapon.
Moder is an error-prone enemy. If the boss altar is located on a terrain which is too mountainous, your opponent may get stuck.
Rewards
For defeating the boss, you will receive a trophy which you can use as an offering at the Sacrificial Stones. In return, you will get the ability to always tailwind while sailing. In addition, you will also receive tears that unlock the constructs needed to melt the black metal.
