Before equipping a weapon, you should check the type of damage it inflicts and its base stat.
Each weapon and combat skill deals a specific type of damage. When you move the cursor over a weapon, you can find much information that you should take into consideration:
- Type of weapon and base stat: each weapon has a certain type: it can be light, medium or heavy. Notice that each character is specialized in a certain type of weapons. You should choose them with those specializations in mind so a character can be, e.g. more precise in attacks. Another important information is which of the attributes is used in Effort checks when you attack an enemy. Always choose a weapon that corresponds to the character's highest attribute (Glaive - Might, Jack - Speed, Nano - Intellect).
- Base damage: Next to base stat you can find the information about the base damage (without using Effort) and damage type. There are several types of damage: physical, energy, chemical, mental, transdimensional. Physical damage is reduced by armor, other types are reduced by resistance.
- Bonus damage using Effort - it is a very important parameter. When you get more experience, your characters get the ability to invest more Effort points during a fight or interaction. This means, that it is worth to hunt for weapons that have a big bonus per each Effort level applied. On the picture above you can see that the weapon has 4 base damage. It is not a lot but if you attack an enemy and use four points from Speed pool then that character deals 4+12=16 damage.
- Additional effects and bonuses - some weapons offer additional bonuses or can inflict fettles. The weapon above confers the fettle: Sonic Disruption, which lowers enemy armor by 1.
