Chainsaw is one of the weapons available in Silent Hill 2 Remake. It is the most powerful weapon in the game, but it is impossible to obtain it during your first playthrough. On this guide page we describe how to get a chainsaw and how it works.
Where is the chainsaw?
You can only obtain the Chainsaw in New Game Plus after completing the game at least once. Luckily, it's hard to miss it - you'll find the chainsaw on the trail leading to Silent Hill, after the first meeting with Angela at the cemetery. The saw is stuck in a pile of wooden logs next to the ranch. It's running, so its distinctive sound should lead you to it.
How does the chainsaw work?
The chainsaw is a melee weapon. It works identically to a wooden board and steel pipe, not requiring ammunition or fuel. However, it deals massive damage, being able to kill normal monsters with one swing and bosses with just a few. Using the chainsaw drastically facilitates combat, which will allow you to finish the game faster during subsequent runs, and quickly get the alternate endings.
