Basic information
- Nier Automata has 48 trophies - 1 platinum trophy (only available on PS4 and PS5), 2 gold trophies, 13 silver trophies and 32 bronze trophies. The total number of achievements does not differ for the Game of the YoRHa Edition because there are no additional trophies associated with the DLC.
- The game allows you to "cheat" with earning trophies by buying them for gold. This option becomes available only after you complete all 17 chapters of the campaign. We describe it in more detail on the page Trophy Shop - How to unlock it?. You do not have to use it, of course, and you can try to get all the achievements "legally", i.e. fulfilling 100% of their objectives.
- Even if you decide to use the Trophy Shop, it will still take you at least 50 hours to unlock the platinum trophy, because this is the average time needed to complete Route A, Route B, and Route C together with D. If you are not going to cheat with achievements, then you need to be ready for a long grind (at least 90 level of experience) and the need to collect most unique items and data available in the game.
- No trophy can be missed irreversibly. Even if you don't perform a unique action related to a given achievement, when you finish the game, you will unlock the Chapter Select option. It allows you to repeat selected parts of the game. When using Chapter Select, items you have previously acquired (weapons, pods, gold, inventory items, etc.) are not lost, even if you go back to one of the initial chapters.
- We recommend playing online with Network Features enabled. This is most useful during the final battle associated with the E ending and The Minds That Emerged trophy, because you will be able to ask other players for help and easily complete the battle, which without support is extremely difficult to survive. Playing online and Network Features are described in more detail on a separate page titled Network Features.

Treacherous Blade
Trophy type: Bronze

Farewell, Pascal
Trophy type: Bronze
Achievement description: Fulfill Pascal's last wish.
Comment: It's a trophy tied to progress in the main plot, and you can't miss it. At the end of Chapter 14 of Route C and D, Pascal asks A2 to erase his memory. A selection window will appear here, but you will get the trophy no matter how you behave.
Justice
Trophy type: Bronze
Achievement description: Stop all Resource Recovery Units.
Comment: It's a trophy tied to progress in the main plot, and you can't miss it. They are obtained in the final part of Chapter 16 of Route C and D, after dealing with the bosses of the third Recovery Unit tower.
Crime and Punishment
Trophy type: Bronze
Achievement description: Watch Devola's and Popola's final moments.
Comment: It's a trophy tied to progress in the main plot, and you can't miss it. At the beginning of Chapter 17 of Route C and D, you will enter the tower and the game will offer to play a text scene related to Devola and Popola (picture above). You can play it or not - you will get the trophy regardless of this choice.
Leaving for the New World
Trophy type: silver
Achievement description: Achieve ending 9S.
Comment: It's a trophy tied to progress in the main plot, and you can't miss it. You must complete Chapter 17 within Route C and D and in its final part take 9S's side. This unlocks the D ending.
Additional note - getting a C or D ending for the first time unlocks Chapter Select. You can use it to repeat the final battle and act differently to unlock the missed ending.
Beautiful World
Trophy type: silver
Achievement description: Get the A2 ending.
Comment: It's a trophy tied to progress in the main plot, and you can't miss it. You must complete Chapter 17 within Route C and D and in its final part side with A2. This unlocks the C ending.
The Minds That Emerged
Trophy type: gold
Achievement description: Watch the final credits.
Comment: This achievement refers to unlocking the "definitive" main ending of the game, i.e. the E ending. The whole procedure is thoroughly described on the page Completing Route C and Route Din our walkthrough guide. In a nutshell:
- you must unlock the C and D endings,
- you must allow the game to roll credits,
- you must complete the fight during the end credits - agree to get help from other players,
- in addition, at the very end refuse to help weaker players - agreeing to this proposal results in the game deleting all save game files.
The trophy is awarded when you see the cut-scene after the end credits associated with the E ending.
The Circle of Death
Trophy type: Bronze
Achievement description: Retrieve your body.
Comment: This trophy is related to the mechanics of the game, which is that after the death of the controlled character and being "reborn" at the nearest Access Point station, you can return to the place where the death occurred, interact with the corpse and select the option Retrieve. This is to restore all the progress made before death.
An additional hint - the corpse is marked on the map and you do not have to remember where you died.
Cherish Our Resources
Trophy type: silver
Achievement description: Have 100 bodies collected.
Comment: This trophy is thematically related to the achievement described above, and it applies to all bodies found in the game. It is much easier to unlock this trophy by playing online and with Network Features enabled (we described this in more detail on the site Network features), because you will be able to find the bodies of other players from their playthroughs. When playing offline, you may still encounter dead bodies (nameless), but this will occur less frequently.
After finding the body, you must first choose Pray and Continue or just Continue (it does not play any role), and then select Retrieve. By the way, you'll get temporary bonuses to stats and some loot.
Additional hint - you can make it easier for yourself to find bodies by returning to locations where duels with the main bosses of the game took place. This can be, for example, the stage in the Amusement Park or the desert ruins. Statistically, in these places players die more often and thus there's a bigger chance to find even a few bodies next to each other.
First Errand
Trophy type: Bronze
Achievement description: Complete the first quest.
Comment: This trophy is awarded for side quests. You can choose any of them.
The Mercenary
Trophy type: silver
Achievement description: Complete 80% of the quests.
Comment: This is a continuation of the above achievement First Errand. There are 60 side quests in the game and this means that in order to earn the trophy, you must complete at least 48 of them. For an overview of the available quests, see Side missions page of our guide. Here are some important information related to this trophy:
- You can return to missed or unfinished quests, either as part of the next route by the Chapter Select option, which is unlocked after completing the entire main storyline. This is especially useful if the mission involves, for example, defeating high-level opponents.
- Not all missions are immediately available. They may require reaching a specific chapter of the game and completing a specific path. In our walkthrough, we describe how to start them.
- Quest progress is saved on an ongoing basis and you will not lose the percentage progress of completing the quest. However, this applies only to those missions that were previously 100% passed by you and thus disappeared from the active log bookmark.
- In addition to reading the descriptions of quests from our guide, we advise you to make a habit of studying all new markers appearing on the map. Many of them symbolize the places where new quests begin.
- You can check the current progress in the Quests tab - this is the item Cleared Quests (image above).
Information Master
Trophy type: Bronze
Achievement description: Find 80% of the archives.
Comment: Archives are journal entries that are in the Intel tab. They can cover a variety of topics, such as important characters, bosses or events from the past.
Do not worry if you do not find any archives during the first playthrough of Route A, because you will start to encounter them from Route B. Many archives are hidden in locked boxes which can only be hacked by 9S. The Closed boxes - How to open them? page includes tips on how to open boxes and how to find them more easily thanks to the Item Scan chip. With this chip, you should carefully walk through all known locations and react to the box markers on the mini-map.
You may also obtain records in other ways, e.g. thanks to progress in the main storyline or completing selected optional quests. A great relief is that you do not have to collect 100% of them, but "only" 80%. Information about the discovered archives remains and you will not lose it if at the end of the game you start using the Chapter Select option.
Destruction is My Job
Trophy type: Bronze
Achievement description: Unlock 80% of the units information.
Comment: Unit Data is a code entry about characters and machines you encounter - both friendly and hostile. You must unlock 80% of all entries. You can track your current progress in the Intel tab.
Unit Data is best obtained by eliminating opponents. It should be noted that separate Unit Data entries can apply even to those enemies that are minimally different from each other or are "assigned" to separate locations (eg. a small machine from the city ruins and a small machine from the forest). In general, try to attack constantly encountered enemies and do not avoid fights by running away from them. The game informs about each new entry - you will see the Unit data has been updated message above the mini-map (bottom right corner of the screen).
You can also unblock some Unit Data entries e.g. by meeting friendly machines from Machine Village. After the first time you get to the Pascal's village, try to talk to each of them at least once. It is worth to make a habit of talking at least once to each encountered NPC.
Chip Collector
Trophy type: Bronze
Achievement description: Collect 80% of the chips.
Comment: Chips are items that you can install in the operating system of the currently controlled Android and thus receive various bonuses. The main methods of obtaining chips are:
- finding them with loot (boxes, glowing loot on the ground, enemy bodies),
- receive as rewards for completing quests,
- buying from merchants.
Leave the last of these methods to yourself at the very end of the game. Try to collect as many chips as possible by exploring and completing tasks (note - do not sell them!) and only then approach the vendors to start buying the missing ones. Pay attention to the second column in the trading window (example in the picture), which informs about the number of chips held. Buy the ones that show 0.
Additional note - some chips appear in the game in different quality variants, for example, Offensive Heal and Offensive Heal 3. You don't have to get all versions. All that matters is to have at least 1 chip with a given name (that is, in our example, at least 1 Offensive Heal chip).
Weapons Maniac
Trophy type: silver
Achievement description: Get all the pod programs.
Comment: Pod programs are otherwise active skills that you can assign to your pod. Below, you'll find the list of the programs:
- R010: Laser
- R020: Mirage
- R030: Hammer
- R040: Blade
- R050: Spear
- A060: P Shield
- R070: M Shield
- A080: Wave
- A090: Wire
- A100: Decoy
- A110: Slow
- A120: Repair
- A130: Bomb
- A140: Gravity
- A150: Volt
- A160: Missile
- A170: Scanner
First of all, try to get new programs for free, i.e. by making progress in the main storyline, completing side quests, and exploring the crates in the game world. Only after the completion of the main storyline, take a look at what the vendors have to offer (eg. Maintenance Shop Owner from Resistance Camp). Buy the missing programs from them. You can view your programs in the Skills tab.
Tools of the Trade
Trophy type: Bronze
Achievement description: Upgrade any weapon to the maximum level.
Comment: Upgrade a weapon to level 4. You can't do it at blacksmith, you just have to find a hidden vendor - Masamune at Forest Castle. The process of locating Masamune and using his services is described in detail on a separate page Weapons level 4 - How to achieve it?.
Unfortunately, even if you find a secret dealer, you may not initially have the ingredients to upgrade weapons from Level 3 to level 4. Continue the game, and there is a chance that you will get the necessary items, for example, as a loot or a reward for completing a side quest. Then return to Masamune to upgrade your equipment to the maximum level.
Inorganic Blade
Trophy type: silver
Achievement description: Upgrade all weapons to the maximum level.
Comment: This is a more difficult and much more time-consuming version of the above-described trophy Tools of the Trade. It forces you to find all of the weapons in the game and get the ingredients to upgrade each of them to level 4 at Masamune. The list of available weapons can be found on a separate page titled Weapons list.
Rare items needed to upgrade weapons can be collected with loot or acquired as a reward for completing quests, as well as purchased from vendors. First of all, take a look at what is offered by:
- Emil traveling through the City Ruins
- Trader from Amusement Park
Supreme Support Weapons
Trophy type: silver
Achievement description: Upgrade all pods to the highest level.
Comment: You must first unlock all 3 pods and this includes a separate trophy Pod Hunter. Each pod must then be upgraded to a maximum Level 4. Pod upgrade service are offered, among others, by Maintenance Shop Owner from Resistance Camp. After talking to the NPC, select Upgrade Pod.
In addition to spending gold, pod upgrades also unfortunately involve the need to acquire rare crafting materials. Try to:
- collect as much loot as possible from vanquished opponents - defeated golden opponents yield the rarest resources,
- open as many closed crates as possible. Inside, there may be materials, among other things,
- complete as many side quests as possible. They can offer unique resources in the form of rewards.
In general, never sell anything related to crafting (unless you collect a maximum of 99 pieces), because you may not come across more of this type of ingredients, and getting them may be very difficult.
Fighting's Not My Thing
Trophy type: Bronze
Achievement description: Play your first hack mini-game.
Comment: You can't miss this achievement, because hacking is required to complete some of the mission's main objectives. You will first encounter the mechanics of the hacking mini-games when you reach Route B, because only 9S can hack - you must hold the triangle (the button used previously for heavy attacks) on opponents or devices that are vulnerable to hacking.
A Scanner's Power
Trophy type: Bronze
Achievement description: Destroy 100 machines with hacking.
Comment: This is another of the trophies associated with hacking, and therefore available only in those chapters in which you control 9S.
Completing hacking mini-games leads to the explosion of the attacked opponents. A single explosion should immediately destroy any weaker machine. For stronger enemies, the detonation will take only a portion of their health, but you can repeatedly hack such machines to destroy them.
Machines vs. Machines
Trophy type: Bronze
Achievement description: Destroy 50 machines with remote control.
Comment: It's another trophy tied to the hacking and 9S. In this case, it involves Remote Control. After some successful hacking, a selection window similar to the one in the above image may appear. Then choose the remote control action and use the newly acquired machine to attack others. The more powerful the machine you manage to master, the easier it will eliminate others.
A good way to quickly charge the elimination counter is also to use those quests that force the control of the machines. An excellent example here would be Chapter 9 Route B in which you have to use "possessed" machines while going through the Abandoned Factory. You can take the opportunity to attack as many other machines as you can. Even if your machine is destroyed, you will resume the struggle in the body of another. This section also allows you to use remote control on more powerful machines (eg. the flying ones), which may be more effective in making successful eliminations.
The Power of Hate
Trophy type: Bronze
Achievement description: Destroy 50 machines in Berserk Mode.
Comment: Berserk Mode is a reserved mode only for A2. It becomes available after unlocking this playable character after completing Route C and Route D. More information about the correct use of it is described on a separate pageBerserker Mode - How to use it?.
As a reminder, you can activate this mode by pressing and holding both analog knobs (L3 R3). For unlocking this achievement faster, use it during battles with groups of weak machines, which will die without problems before the mode stops working due to the loss of health points.
Ruler of the Skies
Trophy type: silver
Achievement description: Destroy 250 enemies with your flight suit.
Comment: This is a very simple trophy that you will surely get without any additional effort. In our case, this happened even when completing Route A. Flight Suit sequences occur repeatedly during the game and there always are many targets to destroy.
Harvest King
Trophy type: silver
Achievement description: Collect the materials from hidden points 10 times.
Comment: The description of this trophy may seem enigmatic, but in reality it is not complicated. This applies to finding a hidden loot using a scanner that you unlock when you reach chapter 8 of Route A. We describe the scanner in more detail on the page Scanner - How to use it?. As a reminder, this is one of the programs and you must assign it as an active skill to one of the pods you have.
While traversing the game world, travel with the scanner active, i.e. with the PDA (L1/LB) button pressed. The scanner works like a sonar and can lead you to hidden objects - glowing loot. Find and take 10 treasures of any kind. Throughout the game world, there are much more than just ten hidden around.
Pod Hunter
Trophy type: Bronze
Achievement description: Find all the pods.
Comment: You start the game with one pod and the next 2 you have to find on your own. We describe how to get them on the page All pods - How to unlock them?. You can get them all when you complete Route A.
Desire Without Emotion
Trophy type: silver
Achievement description: Have at least 100000G in inventory.
Comment: This is not a very difficult achievement. If you want to unlock it faster, avoid any major purchases in the initial phase of the campaign - the only recommended purchases are listed on a separate page Gold - How to collect it?. This trophy requires you to have at least $ 100,000 in inventory at any given time. Gold can most easily be obtained by collecting as much loot dropped by the opponents and from boxes, as well as completing side quests (for one completed quest you will usually receive several thousand G).
Animal Rider
Trophy type: Bronze
Achievement description: Ride any animal for 5 kilometers.
Comment: This is not a difficult trophy, but it requires some preparation, because initially wild animals run away from heroes or attack them. Techniques of taming the wild animals are described on a separate page Animals - How to tame them?. As a reminder, you need to stock up on Animal Bait (consumable) and Sachet (one-time purchase). You can get them e.g. from a Supply Trader at Resistance Camp.
Wild animals appear in the City Ruins and Forest locations. These are moose and boars. Jump on their back and use them to travel around the game world. You do not have to cover a distance of 5 kilometers once, because the lengths of all rides are summed up.
A Round by the Pond
Trophy type: Bronze
Achievement description: Catch 20 different species of fish.
Comment: This trophy refers to fishing, which is one of the additional activities in the game. The rules of the available mini-game are described in detail on a separate page titled Fish - How to do it?.
The game world is inhabited by 41 species of fish and this means that you have to find less than half. Do not count on catching all the species in one location, because you have to visit different areas of the world. The main fisheries in the game are:
- City Ruins - water reservoirs are all over the area
- Flooded City - water reservoirs are all over the area
- Forest Zone - the river flows through the central part of the forest
- Forest Castle - you can fish before entering the castle
- Desert Zone - you can fish in the Oasis and in the oil field
- Amusement Park - you can fish from one of the bridges and in the canals under the funfair
All the unique fish species caught appear in Intel -> Fishing Encyclopedia. This allows you to easily determine how many species you are still missing to achieve the achievement.
Wait! Don't Kill Me!
Trophy type: Bronze
Achievement description: Destroy 10 friendly machines.
Comment: This is a simple achievement, because during thegame you can repeatedly meet machines that do not have hostile intentions. Examples of sites with this type of machines are Amusement Park (screenshot above) and Machine Village. Get rid of any 10 neutral machines.
What Are You Doing?
Trophy type: Bronze
Achievement description: Discover 10 2B's secrets.
Comment: The trophy is about... peeking under 2B's dress. You can get it as you play Route A. Keep the camera low behind 2B's back. The heroine should turn around every time and make a move forbidding such actions. Do it nine more times.
Not That I Mind...
Trophy type: Bronze
Achievement description: Play as 9S for 1 hour in a certain state.
Comment: The certain state from the description of the achievement is... jogging without shorts. You can do this by choosing to self-destruct 9S - you must hold L3 R3 for a few seconds to explode. Try this only after reaching the surface, because self-destruction in the bunker will mean unlocking one of the endings. After self-destruction, 9S will be on the verge of death, but you can cure the android.
Play in this state for a total of one hour (you can repeat self-destruction in case of death or shutdown of the game) to get a trophy.
Come Take a Look!
Trophy type: Bronze
Achievement description: Use the Emil store for the first time.
Comment: Trader Emil will start to appear at City Ruins starting from Chapter 7 Route A. Look for his icon on the city map (example in the picture). He can appear in different parts of the ruins.
By default, Emil travels without stopping. In order to stop the vendor, lock the camera on him and shoot at Emil.. You do not have to fear confrontation, because this will prompt Emil to stop the "escape" and present his goods. All that matters is the opening of the trading window and you don't have to buy anything.
Naughty Children
Trophy type: gold
Achievement description: Destroy Emil.
Comment: This is the hardest and most time consuming trophy in the game. Trader Emil can become an optional boss with experience level 99. Fighting a duel with him is part of the hidden Y ending, which we describe on the page titled List of endings in our guide.
Before you fight for this trophy, you will have a long grind to undergo(it is worth helping yourself, for example, by fighting in optional arenas). You should advance to at least level 90 before you attempt the achievement. You can also intentionally lower the difficulty level of the game in the options menu.
Transcendent Being
Trophy type: Bronze
Achievement description: Unlock all endings.
Comment: A summary of these can be found on the List of endings page. The most difficult one to unlock is the Y ending associated with the Naughty Children trophy, described above.
There are a total of 26 endings to unlock (including 5 main ones). Each ending is automatically saved on your current save game file. The useful information is that even if you miss some small ending, after completing the entire storyline, you will unlock the Chapter Select option and will be able to freely repeat all chapters and single sequences of the game.
Lunar Tear
Trophy type: Bronze
Achievement description: Visit the place of memories.
Comment: This trophy is associated with a side quest of Emil's Memories which you can start in the shopping center located between the forest and the ruins of the city. For a description of how to complete this task, see Forest and Castle chapter Side missions.
You will reach the place of memories, which is a kind of cemetery, at the end of the quest, after receiving the appropriate key from Emil.
