On this page of the guide, you will learn how to catch fish in NieR Automata. We explain what are the requirements to start fishing, what to do during the mini-game, and what you can catch.

The game allows you to catch fish wherever there are smaller and larger reservoirs, rivers, and streams. To start fishing, get in the water or stand near it and hold the Circle. This will be possible even if the reservoir in a particular place seems very shallow.

It is worth adding that the hero uses Pod instead of a classic fishing rod. This means that you can fish from the very beginning of the game.

The mini-game itself is very simple. You must first aim at the water and throw the Pod by pressing the X on the gamepad. It will work as bait.

Wait until something catches the bait and quickly press X - you don't have to hold or mash the button.

After a while, the prey will be fished out and you will be able to find out what it is.

In most cases, you will get a fish - there are 41 species. If you manage to catch at least 20 different species, you will be rewarded A Round by the Pond bronze trophy. You can sell the fish you catch to the merchants.

In some cases, you can also catch a treasure. It can be, for example, a weapon or a new type of Pod. These are unique items and each of them is obtained only once.
