Luring an animal
As you traverse the game world, you may encounter wild animals like a deer and wild boar. Animals initially will be very easy to scare - they will try to escape after getting close to them.
Attacking wild animals is possible, although you have to remember that they can also start attacking heroes - boar can deal tremendous damage. Killed animals can drop meat.
The first opportunity to tame animals will appear after reaching the Resistance Camp and talking to the Supply Trader. This is one of the merchants from the game world selling items related to wild animals.
These items are:
1) Animal Bait for 100 gold - Consumable item; each bait can be used to lure 1 wild animal.
Alternatively, you can find the bait as loot.
2) Sachet for 1,000 gold - This is a one-time purchase. If you have a Sachet, the animals will no longer run from the heroes. It is best to immediately purchase this item.
Have at least 1 bait and go to a place where you can encounter wild animals. Open the inventory and select the bait to place it on the ground.
Traveling on the back of an animal
Wait for a wild animal to come. Approach it and press the Circle (interaction button).
You can start traveling on the back of the tamed animal. Here are the most important things related to this mechanic:
- Wild animals will help you travel faster on the map. However, this feature loses some importance after unlocking fast travel.
- Hold R2 to activate ramming - you can kill regular opponents or at least seriously weaken them.
- After you finish the ride and dismount it, the animal will be waiting for you. However, the animal will disappear if you get too far away from it. You will have to use another bait on a different animal.
Quality Sachet - easy animal taming
Later in the campaign, you will be able to make animal taming easier without any bait.
After you advance to Chapter 7, you will have the opportunity to do a side quest called Animal Care in the Forest Zone. You get it from Animal-loving Machine - it has a problem with a sick animal.
As part of this quest, you must help in obtaining a cure - go to the mall and find Medical Journal.
Return to the quest giver. One of the rewards for completing the task will be Quality Sachet.
From now on, you can approach wild animals and immediately jump on their back, i.e. you don't have to place Animal Bait. This makes it much easier to use wild animals to travel faster.
