God of War: The Bridge Keeper of Helheim - boss, how to beat? God of War Guide and Walkthrough
Last update: 19 August 2022
On this page of the God of War game guide you will find the description of the duel with The Bridge Keeper of Helheim, the boss you encounter during your first visit to Helheim in the main storyline. The following walkthrough describes the battles that precede the duel with the Bridge Keeper as well as the actual confrontation with the boss.
Fights preceding the duel with The Bridge Keeper
The confrontation with the Bridge Keeper takes place during his first visit to Helheim, the realm of the dead. Kratos visits this place for the first time to find a cure for the sick Atreus.
After reaching Helheim the main character will first have to deal with common enemies. The Blades of Chaos, which you have acquired earlier, can help you eliminate enemies and also unlock passages blocked by vines.
The path is linear and involves dealing with more ice enemies and destroying entangling roots.
After all the fights, you need to climb the surrounding alcove and destroy the roots between the two statues. Shortly after performing this action, Kratos will come across the boss - the Bridge Keeper.
Duel with the boss
The fight with the Bridge Keeper resembles the encounters with trolls. However, the described boss is definitely stronger than the trolls.
The Bridge Keeper can teleport, shoot projectiles, and can also turn invisible. It is worth being prepared for all these actions and not to be surprised by the boss.
The Bridge Keeper can also summon minor enemies that can effectively interfere and cause problems during your fights. It's a good idea to eliminate them first, but it's also a good idea to keep an eye on the boss to give him no chances for launching a successful surprise attack.
Combat can be quite challenging - especially watch out for shockwaves and surprise attacks. It is a good idea to save your Spartan rage for the end of the fight, when the enemy becomes more dangerous and faster.
After depriving the boss of his entire health bar, Kratos must jump on him and rip out his heart.
