Last update: 19 August 2022
On this page of the God of War game guide, you will find information on how to defeat the final boss. We explain who the final boss is, when the final confrontation takes place, how to avoid the boss' attacks and how to win the main battle of the campaign.
Do finalowej konfrontacji gry dochodzi niedlugo po wplynieciu w paszcze ogromnego The final confrontation of the game takes place shortly after entering the mouth of a huge serpent and finding Mimir's Eye. The final boss of the game is Baldur, and Freya will also appear in the place where the fight takes place.
At first, Freya will try to interrupt the duel and trap you. You need to free yourself from the trap to start attacking Baldur.
Baldur is fast and strong and he can regenerate his health. At the very beginning of the duel, the tactics of the fight are not yet important. The only important thing at this moment is to fight Baldur for a while in order to activate a cut-scene.
Baldur will accidentally injure himself with an arrow from the mistletoe. His immortality will vanish. Now you will be able to begin your efforts to deal with Baldur for good so that he cannot return anymore in the next part of the game.
The general tactics during the final battle don't differ much from the previous duels with Baldur. It's worth waiting for boss attacks in order to parry them and launch a counterattack.
Alternatively, Kratos may choose to perform a block or dodge - these are safer behavioral options.
Baldur can change forms and this forces you to change tactics:
- If the boss has shapeshifted into an ice form, you must attack him with Blades of Chaos,
- If the boss has taken on a fiery form, you must attack him with Leviathan Axe.
Freya will interrupt the duel by trying to stop the fighting heroes by using a giant that, among other things, creates shockwaves. These types of additional threats must be avoided as much as possible.
After some time, additional enemies will also appear - you should try to eliminate them first, because they greatly interfere with attacking Baldur.
The final duel also contains several cutscenes with QTEs - including climbing and winning a fistfight with Baldur. You should pay a lot of attention to pressing the proper buttons that appear on the screen.
During the final battle it will be possible to use Spartan Rage by pressing the L3+R3 buttons. Baldur will be even stronger. The enemy will perform attacks more often and dynamically change his form every now and then. Kratos has to switch weapons frequently as a result.
Atreus can help weaken Baldur - it's worth ordering him to shoot at the enemy.
Depriving Baldur of his health bar (for the very last time) will lead to end of the main story. You will be able to watch final cutscenes as a reward.
