God of War: Valkyrie Kara (River Pass) - how to beat? God of War Guide and Walkthrough
Last update: 19 August 2022
On this page of the God of War game guide you will find the description of the battle with the Valkyrie Kara located in River Pass. The following guide explains where to find Kara and how to defeat this powerful optional boss.
Valkyrie Kara - whereabouts
Valkyrie Kara is in one of the game's hidden chambers. This chamber is located in the River Pass, which you first visit during A New Destination main quest. Of course, you can also return to the River Pass after completing this quest.
The entrance to the hidden chamber is shown in the picture above - it's the location where you have to detonate the red crystal near a Nornir chest.
Fight preparations and description of the duel with Valkyrie Kara
It's worth preparing for the duel with Kara and the recommended steps are described in detail on the introduction page of this chapter. As a reminder, it is highly recommended to get the best possible armor (by completing all the favors for the Brok and Sindri dwarves) and enchant your melee weapon with the best (optimally epic) runes available.
Additionally, before reaching the Valkyrie's lair, it's a good idea to equip the berserker's resurrection stone (it allows you to resurrect Kratos once with maximum fury) and to fully charge up the rage bar in order to be able to use it after the start of the duel with Kara.
You can start the duel with Kara by attacking the boss before it engages into the battle. Kara mainly attacks from a distance, relying on spikes and performing a very fast disc throw. The Valkyrie can also attempt to attack Kratos with its wings, though this will not be a strong attack.
A unique feature of this duel is that the boss is able to summon groups of enemies for help, and this can bring some chaos to the battlefield. Ignoring Kara's minions is not a good idea, although you should keep an eye on the boss while dealing with them.
Blades of Chaos can work well in this battle, both to weaken Kara and her subordinates by using the area of effect attacks. Most of Kara's attacks can be blocked or parried. The exception is the occasional red attack. Upon noticing this color, the only solution is to dodge, as these attacks cannot be stopped.
