Unlike previous editions, in new God of War Kratos gains higher levels of experience and becomes stronger and more powerful. On this page of our guide you will find the most important information related to the level up mechanics of the hero.

Leveling up - main stats and attributes

Kratos character is described by a set of 6 stats:

1. Strength - Increases damage of all standard attacks.
2. Runic - Increases damage of Runic attacks and elements.
3. Defence - Reduces the received damage.
4. Vitality - Increases maximum health value and mitigates enemy hit response.
5. Luck - Increases the chance of activating skills. Increases your XP and hacksilver gains.
6. Cooldown - Reduces the time renewal of Runic attacks, Runic summons, and talismans.

The increase of these stats grant a level up for Kratos. We are not dealing here with the mechanics of gaining experience - the development takes place through the improvement of the stats.

Upgrading Kratos' stats - how to do it?

1. Increase stats by changing equipment. Each armor, handle, etc. offers a bonus to the statistics. In order to become stronger, Kratos must therefore forge and improve his equipment.
2. Upgrading weapons. Over time, you will be able to improve your weaponry, which will automatically translate into a stronger attack.
3. Hero's skills. In the development tree of the second weapon you have three skills that will add a passive bonus to some of stats.
4. Acquiring special items. For example, sailing on The River of Nine you may come across a kind of fruit which, when torn apart, will permanently increase the luck of your hero.
