Coaching course raises your attributes. - How to raise your coaching qualifications? - Questions and Answers - Football Manager 2016 - Game Guide and Walkthrough
Coaching course raises your attributes.

While creating your manager, you can pick the type of the coaching license that he owns. This affects the number of points that you can allot to his individual attributes, and thus improve on his qualifications as a coach. If you haven't picked the best available license (Continental Pro), you will receive correspondingly less points to distribute, while creating a new profile. While playing, however, you can raise your qualifications by taking a coaching course and obtain a new license. For this, select Home -> My Profile and Begin Coaching Course. Your decision to raise your qualifications also needs to be approved of by the Board (it may be disapproved of, due to lack of funds), and the course lasts over the course of time, when your effectiveness as the coach of your team is decreased (for the duration of the course).

Raising qualifications also concerns your coaching staff and it works on similar principles. Access Staff and select the coach. From the tab Contract (while viewing his profile) select Send to coaching course. If the Board agrees to that, the process of raising your coach's qualifications starts. This does not automatically mean that the course will be finished by he coach (the course may be interrupted or its duration extended), but in majority of cases the coach obtains a new license and better skills.
